Tips for Enrolling in ACA for 2015

1. The open enrollment lasts only three months; about half the time as last year. The enrollment period is November 15, to February 15, 2015.
2. Individuals may also qualify for Special Enrollment Periods outside of Open Enrollment if they experience certain events.
3. Those without insurance face a fine of $325 per person per year, or 2 percent of income, whichever is larger.
4. When you buy health insurance coverage in the Marketplace, you may be able to get a premium tax credit that lowers what you pay in monthly premiums. This will depend on your 2015 household size and income.
5. Individuals who are automatically re-enrolled in PPACA plans will still have the option of changing plans during open enrollment.
6. It will be beneficial for you to work with an agent who is familiar with the ACA, and there is no extra cost for this service.
7. Industry experts warn that individuals should review their previous plan or else they might face increased costs.
8. In most cases, insurance companies sell private health plans outside of the exchange.
9. You can enroll in Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) any time.
