SCRLC Office
The SCRLC Office will be closed this coming Monday, in observance of Martin Luther King Day. We will reopen Tuesday, 1/20 at 8:30 a.m.

Correction to Jessica Brooks Hours
Jessica, our new Educational Services Librarian, will be working Tuesdays - Fridays from 9 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. You may contact her at jbrooks@scrlc.org.

New Phone System
All-Mode Communications has installed a new phone system in the SCRLC office. You will now be able to directly dial the person you need to speak with and leave voice mail. To avoid having to listen to the entire auto-attendant message when you call, you can dial extensions at any time. Extensions are:

SCRLC RBDB 2015 Grants Are Available

Application Deadline:  March 2, 2015

 

SCRLC's Board of Trustees has approved $20,000 to fund information technology projects that benefit the SCRLC region and contribute to resource sharing, under the auspices of the Regional Bibliographic Databases & Interlibrary Resources Sharing (RBDB) Program.

 

Applications are available in Word or PDF format.

ILEAD USA  

NYSL recently distributed Information about ILEAD USA (Innovative Librarians Explore, Apply and Discover). ILEAD USA is an immersion program utilizing web technologies designed "to increase the leadership, collaboration and technology skills of library and library system staff from all types of institutions.  ILEAD USA will help build vibrant libraries that better serve their communities."

 

This program is team-based, with teams between two and five people; libraries/library system staff can apply to participate as a team member, a mentor or as an instructor. There are three mandatory onsite sessions, which will be held at the Mid-York Library System, Utica, NY.  Hotel and meal expenses for participants will be paid with grant funds. More information, including FAQs and an application form are available at  http://www.nysl.nysed.gov/libdev/ilead/index.html. Deadline for applications:  January 25, 2015.

 

Social Media and the Cost of Caring
