Title: Curriculum Alignment

Date: Thursday, June 13, 2013

Time: 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM CDT

This project develops real-time web application processes for updating and aligning expected postsecondary learning outcomes to current industry skill requirements. Because the analysis can be achieved through web-based technologies, two-year colleges everywhere are now able to align program outcomes quickly to meet new workforce demands and incur lower costs to achieve the alignment. The user-friendly web-based interface between the massive databases of the WECM and SkillsNET's DWA Library are now linked in a crosswalk system developed by TSTC Waco and SkillsNET working together, entitled: "Skills Outcomes Analysis," SOA, which provides a streamlined process enabling college staff and faculty to more easily realign outcomes to fit the needs of their employers.

As society has become more mobile, global-minded and economy-driven, the profile of modern students has morphed from the conventional, direct-entry first year at a university clich, to learners possessing an accumulation of credit hours from multiple institutions. Campus leaders are increasingly interested in recruiting, retaining, and graduating these transfer students, but in order to assist them with their educational goals we must first understand their mindset and needs.
