From the Carpenter's Bench:

"Let us be paths to be used and forgotten."
  • Paul Claudel
We are not in this world for long in the big scheme of things, but what will we do with the opportunities that are given to us while we are here? Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross was a professor of psychiatry at the University of Chicago. She interviewed hundreds of people involved in near-death experiences. Consistently, they reported a kind of instant replay of their lives. It was like seeing a rapid-fire movie of everything they had ever said or done. "When you come to this point," says Dr. Kubler-Ross, "you see there are only two things that are relevant: the service you rendered to others and love. All those things we think are important, like fame, money, prestige, and power, are insignificant." You have to love the quote by Dr. Kubler-Ross, "We are too busy, too stressed out, or too consumed with our own agenda to see what is really important in our lives."

We often lose sight of what is most important in our lives, but if we can recognize the blessings and remember what is really important then our lives will be filled with joy! Go home and kiss your husband or wife, your kids, your parents, and your siblings because we should cherish those closest to us! I love being a part of this community!

One day Jesus overheard his disciples arguing about who was the greatest. He said to them, "If one of you wants to be great he must be the servant of the rest."
  • Mark 10:43

RAD Training
Parents,

The SJPA is sponsoring a RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) Training for our female students who are interested.  The class will be held March 1st and March 2nd at the High School Gym.  Friday's session will start at 2:00 and end at 6:00, Saturday will be 8:00 am to 5:00.  Please dress comfortably but keep in mind there will be lots of stretching and getting suited up in protective gear.  Leggings/sweats and t-shirts are the preferred uniform of the day.  On Saturday please bring a lunch as there will be a 45 min to 1-hour lunch break.  Please note that both days are required to complete the course.  You must commit to both days!  This is very important as this is a foundational program and each technique is built upon the prior technique taught.
The cost is 20.00 per student, we have openings for 20 students, this will fill up fast.  Registration forms and Releases are at the front deck.  You must have this signed to participate.  Please arrive on time and bring a water bottle.  Please feel free to call me with any questions.
