It starts with a tearful plea to get your attention. A person on the phone claiming to be your grandchild begging for money to be wired because he or she is in jail in Canada or Mexico. The caller urges for secrecy to prevent a quick phone call to the grandchild's parents to verify the story. More calls will follow with people posing as attorneys, bail bondsmen or doctors. This is the "Grandma, I'm in Jail Scam." Be very suspicious of anyone who suddenly calls asking for cash. Limit personal information on social media sites which imposters can use during a call.
