In our continuing efforts to make San Diego County as safe as possible, we offer free vacation checks. Simply fill out a form on our website and bring it your nearest Sheriff's Station or Substation. Let us know when you're leaving and Senior Volunteer Patrol members will perform security inspections outside your home Monday through Friday. They will check to ensure your doors, windows and garage are locked. They will also hide your newspapers and packages behind your side fence or back patio. If they see anything suspicious, they will call for the assistance of a deputy who will determine if there's been a break in. Upon your return, you will receive a welcome home letter listing the dates your home was checked and observations made during the visits.
This is a free service provided by members of the Sheriff's Senior Volunteer Patrol (SVP). To become a volunteer, click here.

Internet Safety
Sheriff Bill Gore is featured in two public safety announcements about Internet safety. The campaign was unveiled during a news conference at the Sheriff's main office last month. The two videos are aimed at parents and teens to provide warning and advice about online predators. Alicia Kozakiewicz, who was rescued after being abducted, tortured, and raped in a basement dungeon by a child predator she met in a chat room, also shares her nightmare story in the public safety campaign. She hopes it serves as a cautionary tale for teens on the widespread dangers of Internet sex crimes. There are 624,000 child pornography users nationwide. These predators pose as teenagers offering to meet with your children. Talk to your kids about online safety. To watch the Internet safety videos, follow us on . |
