San Diego County Sheriff - March 2012
San Diego County Sheriff
Welcome to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department Newsletter

This month's edition, features two of our initiatives which focus on children.  The Sheriff's KidzWatch in Alpine and Imperial Beach offers an opportunity for children to learn about what the Sheriff's Department does.  It's a little citizens' academy that will acquaint youngsters with our stations, deputies, K-9s, and emergency vehicles.  Your children will be small experts on our department by the end of the day!

The Encinitas Station is hosting a Bicycle Road-E-O to inspect bikes and helmets.  We'll also provide tips for two-wheel rules-of-the-road and place a 'chalk street' course for young riders.  There's a lot more in this issue including a homicide cold case we need your help to solve, and scamsters posing as SDG&E workers.  Thanks for reading!

Stay safe,

Burglary Scam

BEWARE of burglars posing as SDG&E workers

Beware of burglars posing as SDG&E workers. They ask to come into your home to perform routine inspections. One distracts you, while the other burglarizes your home. To avoid becoming a victim, ask for an ID. Ensure the worker is wearing a SDG&E marked uniform and driving a SDG&E marked car. If you are suspicious of the visit,  call 1-800-411-7343.
