Welcome to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department Newsletter
Here at the Sheriff's Department, we have special purpose deputies who target issues that can negatively impact your quality of life. We call them COPPS or Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving deputies. The philosophy is to promote quality interaction between law enforcement and neighborhood citizens. This month's newsletter features many of our community programs. We love to hear from the people we serve at these events. It's also your chance to get to know us better. This way, we can be partners in identifying concerns you might have in your neighborhood.
Thanks for reading and stay safe.
Sincerely, Bill Gore, Sheriff San Diego County |

Emergency Alert System Test
"This is a test of the Emergency Alert System." It's a sound that catches our attention and to some it's annoying, but it makes us look and listen for important information. Next week, this alert will sound coast to coast. The federal government will be interrupting your TV and radio programs for three minutes for a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System or EAS. How will it work?
- Wednesday, November 9th at 11:00 a.m. our time
- Message will last 3 minutes, then regular programs will resume
- Will be seen and heard on every TV and radio station across the country all at the same time
- Please do not panic, it's ONLY A TEST
- Please do not call 911 unless you have a real emergency
Help the Sheriff's Department in spreading the word, on November 9th, IT'S ONLY A TEST. Please share this information with your colleagues, friends, neighbors and family members. The Sheriff's Department wants people to know about this test so they are not alarmed and the Sheriff's Communication Center is not overwhelmed with 911 calls.
As always, we encourage you to visit ReadySanDiego.org to find out how you can prepare yourself and your family for emergencies and disasters. For more information about the test, click here. |
