Welcome to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department Newsletter
On September 8th, tens of thousands of people were without power after a major outage knocked out electricity from Mexico to the Arizona border. Outages affected virtually all of San Diego County and to Yuma, Arizona. Residents in Orange County also experienced the blackout.
I was very pleased at the patience and great attitude evidenced by our county residents. There was very little criminal activity reported and most citizens enjoyed candle-lit bar-b-ques with their friends, family, and neighbors. This is a testament to the ability of our communities to pull together, check on each other during difficult times, and thrive. On behalf of the Sheriff's Department - thank you San Diego County!
I hope you enjoy some current and upcoming events highlighted in this edition of our newsletter. We will feature a new segment from time to time; presentations of a homicide cold case. If you know something about these cases, please call the San Diego Sheriff's Department or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
Sincerely, Bill Gore, Sheriff San Diego County |
