ASTREA Partnership Award
Sheriff's ASTREA was honored with a partnership award from CALFIRE. The award recognizes the cooperation between law enforcement and fire agencies in times of wildfires and other emergencies. The partnership began in 2005. A Sheriff's Deputy flies the Sheriff's helicopter. A CALFIRE Captain always rides with a Sheriff's pilot to handle radio operations. Depending on the type of call or helicopter (fire or rescue) additional CALFIRE personnel could be in the back of the chopper to help with a hoist or rescue. Rotary Hero

The San Diego Sheriff's Department with the Rotary Club of San Diego honored Poway businessman Dennis Baros for assisting detectives in finding the person believed responsible for a series of commercial burglaries. Dennis was one of the victims. He outsmarted the bad guys by installing tracking software on his business computer. This allowed him to know the suspect's every move. He shared his information with the Poway Sheriff's Station leading to the arrest of a man believed responsible for the burglaries. Dennis is the epitome of community-oriented policing. As partners, we all can make a difference. To see more photos, follow us on . To see the awards ceremony, watch our videos on . |
