Easter Block Party & Egg Hunt

This free, family-friendly event will include an egg hunt, candy, a food truck, a petting zoo, and face painting.
Holy Saturday Walk of the Cross

Saturday, April 16, 10 a.m. at Ilus W. Davis Park, KCMO

On Holy Saturday, the church stands between the intersection of death and life -- holding in tension what is and what can be. Join The Open Table, in partnership with Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, as we go downtown for our own "Stations of the Cross" walk through the city. The walk itself is about 1.5 miles and will take one hour. During the walk, we will pause at many different sites in KCMO, lamenting the many ways Jesus still suffers today. We will meet on Saturday, April 16, at 10 a.m. at Ilus W. Davis Park in KCMO -- at the intersection of Oak St. and E. 11th St.

Easter Sunday Schedule
  • Services will be held at 9:30 and 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary.
  • Childcare in the nursery will be available all morning.
  • No adult or children's Sunday School classes will be held.
  • Coffee hour will not be held this week.
  • Following both services, all will be invited to add flowers to the cross, which will be set up on the church lawn.
  • Youth group will meet Sunday evening at its regular time, 6-7:30 p.m.

Second Family Camp - Registration Now Available

All are invited to join us for Second Family Camp, April 29 - May 1 at Heartland Center. Children of all ages are welcome to participate, and there will be something for everyone.

Lodging options are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is also an option to come only for activities on Saturday (see the sign up form for details!).

We had a great turnout on Sunday for our first Sunday Lunch in over two years! Thank you to our fantastic volunteers who prepared and served the meal, and cleaned up afterwards. Save the date and join us for our next Sunday Lunch on May 15, following worship.

Memorial Service for Louise Davis this Saturday
A memorial service for Louise Davis will be held this Saturday, April 16, at 3 p.m. in the Sanctuary with a reception to follow in Westminster Hall. The service will be livestreamed at secondpres.org/livestreaming and on Second's Facebook page.
Serve & Give
Volunteers Needed for Easter Baskets Project with Covenant Pres
Covenant Presbyterian Church will give Easter baskets to the Learning and Fun Preschool which is located across the street from the church. 83 baskets with individually wrapped candy and dyed eggs will be distributed to the children. The Anti-Racism Group will donate the eggs and the dye.

The Black and Brown Subcommittee of Second's Anti-Racism Group is requesting volunteers to help boil and dye the eggs tomorrow, April 13 and to fill the baskets with eggs and candy this Thursday, April 14. The time frame on both days will be from 10 a.m. to noon. Please contact [email protected] if you can help on either/both days for any portion of time.

Faith & Grief Lunch

Tuesday, May 3, 12-1 p.m. at Village Presbyterian Church

All are invited to join us for our next Faith & Grief Lunch on Tuesday, May 3, 12-1 p.m. at Village Presbyterian Church. Our guest speaker will be Lisa Mann, who will share her faith and grief journey and how she healed following the sudden death of her son, Jordan, from an undetected heart condition. Following Lisa’s reflection, our facilitated table conversations will provide a safe place to remember, listen, and pray together. You may share - or not - as you are comfortable.

A complimentary box lunch will be provided, and free-will offerings are appreciated. Pre-registration is helpful but not required. Register at faithandgrief.org/gatherings.

Trolley Run Road Closures, April 24

On Sunday, April 24, Brookside Blvd. will be closed from 6:30 a.m. - noon for the annual Trolley Run. Cars will be able to cross at 55th St. and other locations with police escort. This year's race includes the traditional four mile route plus an eight mile run. Course maps for both routes are available here.
