SV Fund Names 3 to Board

April 22, 2011 - Three Sonoma Valley residents with extensive national and international business experience have joined the Board of the Sonoma Valley Fund. They are Joe Aaron and Scott Smith of Sonoma, and Joshua Rymer of Glen Ellen.
Joe Aaron began his professional career as a Special Agent with the FBI, He later moved into the securities industry, holding positions of Vice President of Investments at both Dean Witter and Wingfield Companies. In 1986 he founded the hedge fund firm of May, Stone & Caddis and its successor Wood, Hat & Silver, LLC. Aaron is a graduate of West Georgia College.

Joshua Rymer recently retired as President and Chief Executive Officer of Terradatum, Inc, a real estate software program firm headquartered in Sonoma. He has held senior executive positions with the Boston Consulting Group and Charles Schwab & Company, and is the author of "The Information Superhighway and Retail Banking," a book that foretold how the Internet would transform the Financial Services Industry. Rymer is a graduate of The University of Pennsylvania and The Wharton School, and holds an MBA degree from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

With over twenty years experience in investment banking, venture capital and executive management, Scott Smith is Founder and Managing Partner of Viant Group and a Managing Director of Viant Capital. Previous positions include Managing Director at Credit Suisse First Boston and a partner in the San Francisco-headquartered law firm of Pillsbury, Madison and Sutro. He currently serves on the World Council of the World Council Fund and devotes time to Friends House, a Quaker-inspired retirement community in Santa Rosa. "We are extremely fortunate and excited to have these three extraordinary business leaders and community-minded individuals join our Board," said Harriet Derwingson, President of the Sonoma Valley Fund. "Their broad experience in financial management, business development, marketing and fund raising adds significant depth and breadth to our current Board." Continuing board members include Barbara Young (President-elect), Thomas Haeuser (Secretary), Donna Halow (Treasurer), Whitney Evans (Past President), Peggy Bair, Karen Collins, Susan Cook, Tony Garcia, Steve Pease, and Martha Rosenblatt. The Sonoma Valley Fund was established in December, 2006 as an affiliate of the Community Foundation Sonoma County.
