Welcome to the August 2016 edition of the South Shore Clean Cities newsletter. We provide you with upcoming transportation news in your area along with tips and ways to improve your fleets and communities. We appreciate your input, so feel free to leave us feedback on how we're doing! Help us spread the word to better improve Northern Indiana's quality of life and reduce our environmental footprint.

Green Fleet Education Session - August 10, 2016
You're invited to join South Shore Clean Cities and the Office of the Lake County Surveyor at the Green Fleet Educational Workshop on storm water pollution prevention. 
 
This session will aid you in determining the key issues in developing a storm water plan for your community. We will help address pollution issues associated with storm water and what best management practices can reduce the impacts of storm water run-off from construction, industrial, municipal, governmental and institutional sources. There is no charge to participate, and all are welcome to attend. Lunch will be provided.

NIRPC Electric Vehicle Charging Station Ribbon Cutting 
The Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission now has its own electric vehicle charging station, part of a chain of 159 such charging ports at more than 60 locations installed as part of NIPSCO's IN-Charge Around Town program.

The charging station at NIRPC is part of the nationwide ChargePoint network, which currently boasts 29,923 charge  points. Using a ChargePoint  card or the mobile app, drivers can use the charging station. The charging station at NIRPC headquarters in Portage, at 6100 Southport Road, is currently free for public use.  The NIRPC charging port was unveiled on July 26, 2016 in conjunction with South Shore Clean Cities.
