The mission of St. Andrew's Nogales is to provide a place of shared faith and a warm accepting church for families of all ages, living out Christ's ministry.

St. Andrew's strives to be
the face of Christ within our walls
and beyond our doors.

From the Rector

Finally, the seasonal change is upon us such that I had to get my fleece out of the closet. Though there will still be warm days, the cooler temps remind me of being back home in Northern Maine. Though I do miss the leaves full of color and walking in the woods with their dry crunch underfoot, I truly like the warmer weather of Southern Arizona. But cooler nights are bringing discomfort for our unhoused neighbors and those without shelter, which reminds me of Jesus being an unhoused individual along with his ragtag company of followers. It was through the kindness of others that Jesus and company found shelter and nourishment. It was through neighbors willing to open their hearts, and possibly homes, to those without. Our mandate that Jesus placed upon us during Holy Week is to take care of one another, to watch out for others and meet their need as best we can. During these uncertain times when a transfer of power is underway with social and cultural outcomes yet to be determined, it becomes imperative for each of us to be gentle with ourselves and respectful to others who don’t share our views or commitments, and open our hearts to those who feel alone, distraught, and sad. Let us, like Jesus, tend to those in need, bring healing where we can, warmth to those seeking shelter, and just be good neighbors. Autumn is a time when, for many, it is harvest time and a time to prepare for the long winter ahead. Let this changing season remind us of Jesus and let us pray for grace to strengthen us in our call to service.

Weekly Bible Study

Please join us on zoom at 6:30 PM on Tuesdays. All are welcome for Bible Study and Compline. We use the African Bible Study Method which is similar to Lectio Divina in that it is a reflective reading and praying on the scripture. We read the same passage from the gospel three times using three different translations of the Bible. After each reading, we reflect and answer three questions about what stands out, how it makes us feel, and what we should do. There are no correct answers to these questions, it comes from each individual's connection to the Holy Spirit speaking through them. There is no discussion about your answers, only sharing everyone’s perspective. We end the evening with Compline from the daily office.

We’re usually done by 7:30 PM. The Zoom meeting ID is: 910 9231 6751. If you want more information contact me at lectio@raymondbean.email.

Watch over your people
O Lord, as their days increase;
bless and guide them wherever they may be.
Strengthen them when they stand;
comfort them when discouraged or sorrowful;
raise them up if they fall;
and in their hearts,
may your peace which passes all understanding
abide all the days of their lives;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
