The mission of St. Andrew's Nogales is to provide a place of shared faith and a warm accepting church for families of all ages, living out Christ's ministry.

St. Andrew's strives to be
the face of Christ within our walls
and beyond our doors.

From the Rector

November begins with a day of prayer for All Saints, followed by a day of remembrance (All Souls). As we pause to remember those we see no more and who have entered that great cloud of witnesses where the saints abound, the following poem by the late John O’Donohue provides each of us a prayer to recall those loved ones who have journeyed into eternal life. May these words bring you peace and solace ~

Though we need to weep your loss,

You dwell in that safe place in our hearts

Where no storm or night or pain can reach you.

Your love was like the dawn

Brightening over our lives,

Awakening beneath the dark

A further adventure of color.

The sound of your voice

Found for us

A new music

That brightened everything.

Whatever you enfolded in your gaze

Quickened in the joy of its being;

You placed smiles like flowers

On the altar of the heart.

Your mind always sparkled

With wonder at things.

Though your days here were brief,

Your spirit was alive, awake, complete.

We look toward each other no longer

From the old distance of our names;

Now you dwell inside the rhythm of breath,

As close to us as we are to ourselves.

Though we cannot see you with outward eyes,

We know our soul’s gaze is upon your face,

Smiling back at us from within everything

To which we bring our best refinement.

Let us not look for you only in memory,

Where we would grow lonely without you.

You would want us to find you in presence,

Beside us when beauty brightens,

When kindness glows

And music echoes eternal tones.

When orchids brighten the earth,

Darkest winter has turned to spring;

May this dark grief flower with hope

In every heart that loves you.

May you continue to inspire us:

To enter each day with a generous heart.

To serve the call of courage and love

Until we see your beautiful face again

In that land where there is no more separation,

Where all tears will be wiped from our mind,

And where we will never lose you again.

Weekly Bible Study

Please join us on zoom at 6:30 PM on Tuesdays. All are welcome for Bible Study and Compline. We use the African Bible Study Method which is similar to Lectio Divina in that it is a reflective reading and praying on the scripture. We read the same passage from the gospel three times using three different translations of the Bible. After each reading, we reflect and answer three questions about what stands out, how it makes us feel, and what we should do. There are no correct answers to these questions, it comes from each individual's connection to the Holy Spirit speaking through them. There is no discussion about your answers, only sharing everyone’s perspective. We end the evening with Compline from the daily office.

We’re usually done by 7:30 PM. The Zoom meeting ID is: 910 9231 6751. If you want more information contact me at lectio@raymondbean.email.

Watch over your people
O Lord, as their days increase;
bless and guide them wherever they may be.
Strengthen them when they stand;
comfort them when discouraged or sorrowful;
raise them up if they fall;
and in their hearts,
may your peace which passes all understanding
abide all the days of their lives;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
