And then come share your gift with us by singing in the St. Andrew's Summer Choir and help the parish make a joyful noise unto the Lord! We meet on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am in the choir loft and run through some well-known hymns. Then we'll sing during the 10:30 am service. That’s it. No commitment, just fun!

Join St. Andrew's at Carol Taylor's house on August 18th at 6 p.m. to peruse Rethreaded's pop up shop! Rethreaded provides a second chance at life through employment for survivors of human trafficking in Jacksonville, Florida. Women have employment opportunities in different facets of the company including production, inventory, sales, marketing and finance/admin. Shop and support local women finding a new path forward!

We are at a turning point in the life of St. Andrew’s. We are cautiously coming out of Covid. We have a balanced budget. And we’re even adding new members. We are at a healthy place. But with your help, we can do more.
Your pledge helps the church to operate day to day, but with an investment of $30,000, St. Andrew’s can build a legacy that will last here in Jacksonville. This is an optional offering above and beyond your pledge, but look at what your additional funding could help us to create:
Rebuild
In May of 2021, a car crashed through the wall of our library building. After a year of working with the insurance company, we have finally completed the restoration of the room… but the entire building could use some work. By fully renovating the building, we expect to be able to list and rent this space which would enable us to fund our buildings and grounds costs decades into the future.
Your funding will help us to:
- Renovate the upstairs with new carpet and ceiling tiles.
- Eliminate the mold in the bathrooms and restore them.
- Clean up the exterior of the building.
Restore
Our sanctuary is a beautiful and holy space. But there are some things we can do to make our space more hospitable to visitors and parishioners alike.
Your funding will help us to:
- Refurbish the kitchen space in Emmanuel Hall in order to be able to host coffee hour and other events.
- Address the water damage in the rear of the church.
- Restore one air condition unit and replace a second.
Renew
As we move out of the pandemic, we notice there has been a great shift in the neighborhoods surrounding our parish. More young families have moved into our area, and they will be searching for a church home come fall. As such, we need to develop a dynamic children and youth program in order to attract and maintain families at St. Andrew’s.
Your funding will help us to:
- Hire and train a part-time Children’s and Youth Minister.

What is Cursillo?
Cursillo teaches a method how you might move toward living a more authentic Christian lifestyle. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, Cursillo will help keep you moving forward.
What happens at the three-day weekend?
The weekend begins on Thursday evening (for the Men’s weekend, September 22 and for the Women’s, September 29) after dinner and ends on Sunday afternoon. During the course of the weekend you will hear fifteen 15-20 minute talks given by both lay persons and clergy, each talk building on the others. You will examine what is important in your life, explore the meaning of God’s Grace, learn about how study, piety, and action are necessary in your life, and you will experience the meaning of community in a new and meaningful way. You will also learn what is necessary to continue this journey after your weekend. You will hear 5 brief meditations and participate in 3 Eucharists. Your level of participation is completely up to you, but you will eat like a king.
There is absolutely no need to be anxious about attending the weekend. There are no secrets. Many people will encourage you during your weekend and welcome you to your post-Cursillo life. After the weekend you will decide whether you will meet with small groups of prior attendees in your parish to share your journey, receive and give encouragement, and continue down the path you start during your weekend.
If you want to become closer to God, and experience Jesus as a brother and friend, develop real relationships with your community, and put some of the puzzle pieces together about this thing called Christianity, you will benefit and enjoy the Cursillo experience.
How do you register?
The cost is $175 but NO ONE is turned away for lack of money. If you need a scholarship, reach out to Debi or Pam, Mother Lisa, Kathleen Slama, or your sponsor. St. Andrews has funds available donated by other parishioners who have attended the weekend and want to help others attend too.

GriefShare groups meet weekly to help you recover from the loss of your family or friend, and move toward rebuilding your life. Provide relief and help communities recover from flooding and fires.
Deadly flooding and fires in southern and western parts of the US are displacing thousands and creating a financial burden on the most vulnerable.

Episcopal Relief & Development is partnering with the Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe to help local congregations throughout Europe provide assistance to Ukrainian refugees.
“The Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe is reporting refugees in their congregations throughout Europe,” said Nagulan Nesiah, senior program officer, Episcopal Relief & Development. “Through this partnership, we are taking steps to equip congregations to welcome these refugees and connect them to ongoing humanitarian initiatives.”
Episcopal Relief & Development is also working with other partners, including the ACT Alliance, on immediate and longer-term responses.
Please continue to pray for all those impacted by the violence. Donations to Episcopal Relief & Development’s Ukraine Crisis Response fund will help meet critical needs created by this crisis.

As many of you know, there is great need in the Arlington area for backpacks for students at Title 1 schools. Many of our area schools have children that put their school supplies in plastic bags because they cannot afford a backpack. There are also many children who struggle with having many of the basics, such as a pencils and paper.
Several churches in our community collected school supplies during the month of July in order to stuff backpacks to be distributed at ten of the most needy schools in our area. This project makes a big difference in the lives of children in the community that we serve.
And St. Andrew's delivered! We donated a ton of school supplies along with 500 pencil sharpeners and 500 erasers to stuff backpacks last weekend. These backpacks were delivered this week, including 60 backpacks delivered by St. Andrew's to Arlington Heights.
