News from St. Andrew's
This Week
The Sixteenth Sunday After Pentecost
Join us this Sunday, online and in-person, at 10:30 am as we move through the Season After Pentecost also known as Ordinary Time.

We have seen an increased number of cases and hospitalizations from Covid in the Jacksonville area. As such, we have re-instated some of our Covid-19 precautions:

  • Masks are required in all indoor spaces. If you need a mask, one will be provided for you.
  • We will be returning to communion in one form - the bread.
  • As always, whether you are vaccinated or unvaccinated, if you are sick or feel unwell, please watch from home. Our virtual service is still online every Sunday.

If you are attending in person worship, please see our updated Covid-19 guidelines.

For those of you joining us virtually, this service will be live streamed. Tune in at 10:30 am on the St. Andrew's Jax YouTube page. You can find the bulletin on the YouTube page or linked below at the bottom of the newsletter.
This Sunday: 30 Years of the DOK at St. Andrew's!
The St. Margaret Chapter of the Daughters of the King® will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their installation as a chapter on September 12th. There were four members originally and Lib was the first President. We are thrilled to be admitting three new members Sunday as part of the anniversary celebration. Please join us outside after the service for a reception to celebrate this wonderful occasion.

Also, thank you to the Daughters of the King® St. Margaret Chapter for their wonderful contribution of a new cherry podium to be used in our Parish Hall. Our Chapter has had a tradition of donating something that our church needs every 10th anniversary. This podium was given to our Church in honor of the Chapter’s 30th year. We are thankful for their generosity and their service to our Church family and community through their vows of prayer, service, and evangelism.

Upcoming
Lunch on the Lawn
Normally September is an exciting time in church life. On Rally Day, we "rally" the Church forces again for the work of Fall and Winter, launch new formation and ministry programs, and celebrate with a big lunch and lots of fellowship. But, like everything this year, our Fall programming suddenly looks a lot different. There is no big launch of in-person programming this year, but rather a more casual in gathering of folks as we return from our Summer or Covid Hiatus.

Join us after church on Sunday, September 19th as we celebrate just being together again in this holy place as the people of God. We'll enjoy an outdoor Lunch on the Lawn of hamburgers, hotdogs, and sides. There will be some tables and chairs, but feel free to bring a picnic blanket or a lawn chair or two. Invite your friends and come catch up with all of those you've missed these past few months!

If you would like to help, please contact Anthony Napoli (food) or Debi Smith (set up).
GriefShare
GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences, losing a loved one. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. GriefShare seminars and support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable GriefShare resources to help you recover from your loss and look forward to rebuilding your life.

The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer will host a GriefShare program beginning Sept 21 at 10:00am in classroom 1-2. Please register at least 2 weeks in advance in order to receive your workbook before the first class session. Register at: https://www.griefshare.org/groups/136166

At last we can sing! Have you been surprised by how much you missed singing? Come sing in the St. Andrew's Summer Choir and help the parish get back in the swing of things!

We meet on Sunday mornings at 9:45 am in the choir loft and run through some well-known hymns. Then we'll sing during the 10:30 am service.

That’s it. No commitment, just fun!

A Prayer For Our Next Bishop
Almighty God, giver of every good gift, we pray that you would look graciously upon the Diocese of Florida, and so guide the minds and hearts of the Nominating Committee as they prayerfully select candidates for the election of the next bishop of this diocese, that we may receive a faithful pastor who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries: Guide also the minds and hearts of the candidates who will come before the Nominating Committee, that this process will be a time of discernment and growth in their lives and ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
We all need extra prayer sometimes. If you or someone you love is in need of prayer, please submit your prayer request here: Prayer Request. We will publish the prayer list weekly so the entire parish can keep you in their prayers.
