This Week
First Sunday in Lent
Join us Sunday, online or in-person, at 10:30 a.m. as we begin our Lenten journey. As is customary, we will begin with The Great Litany and continue the rest of Lent with Rite I Holy Eucharist.

The number of Covid-19 cases and the positivity rate in Jacksonville has GREATLY improved, but is still serious. We encourage you to join us in person if you feel comfortable, or join us online for as long as you need!

The Great Litany
Since this Sunday is the first Sunday in Lent, we will begin the service with the Great Litany. It is called the “Great Litany” to distinguish it from other litanies in the Book of Common Prayer, such as the Litany of Penitence that we said on Ash Wednesday. In 1544 The Great Litany, composed by Thomas Cranmer, was the first rite to be published in English.

Because of its penitential tone, the Litany is especially appropriate during Lent. But it is more than just a penitential prayer. Through it, we pray for all sorts and conditions of people. Prayer is an important part of Lent. We pray for ourselves. We pray for others. We pray for the world. We pray prayers of repentance and prayers for healing for the wounds of sin. The Great Litany is one of the ways we do this.

Consider what you or those close to you might need prayers for and come this Sunday as we pray the Great Litany together.
Compline with Sarah
Compline is a short, contemplative service that dates back to the 4th Century. A series of bedtime prayers, Compline is a simple office so that it could be said by monks as they laid in their beds in the dark, as to preserve their candles.

Our Seminarian Sarah Minton will be offering Zoom Compline every Thursday in Lent at 8 p.m. Mark your calendar and join Sarah HERE (Passcode: g8FnmN) for the oldest prayers in our prayer book!
Book Study:
Celebration of Discipline
This Lenten season, discover the many spiritual disciplines of our tradition and how they can bring us closer to God.

Beginning February 21st, we'll be meeting via Zoom every Sunday morning at 9 a.m. to discuss a few chapters of this well loved book. Purchase your copy today, or email/call the Church Office if you need assistance.

This Sunday, we'll be covering the Introduction through Meditation. Even if you don't make it that far, join us anyway!

Praying with Beads
Join Mtr. Lisa every Wednesday at Noon starting February 24th to learn how to pray through the Lenten season with Anglican Prayer Beads.

We'll be using the same book we began in the Advent season (which you can purchase here) and Mtr. Lisa will bring copies of that week's prayers for those of you who just want to try out this form of prayer.

Please bring your own prayer beads! An inexpensive set can be found here or you can contact the Church Office for assistance.
Lent Madness
Everyone has heard of March Madness, but have you heard of Lent Madness? The format is straightforward: 32 saints are placed into a tournament-like single elimination bracket. Every few days, a short bio or weird information about each saint will be posted online. Each pairing remains open for a set period of time and people from all over the world vote on who should win the Golden Halo!

And you can play along at home! Check out the daily match up and vote for your favorites!

Only one saint will win the coveted Golden Halo! Who will it be this year?
Realm is Here!
Do you think the church may not have your phone number right? Do you wish you could check your giving statement any time you want? Do you want Mtr. Lisa's cell phone number?

Realm is here! You should have received an email describing Realm, a separate email inviting you to join, and another reminder today! If you did not receive one of the emails, please contact Tracy. If you need help setting up your Realm profile, please contact Carol Childers.
Catch our Sermons Online!
Didn't make it to church this past Sunday and want to hear the sermon you missed? Would you like to listen again to one of the sermons preached by Mtr. Lisa, Deacon Mike, or our Seminarian Sarah? Are you trying to convince a friend to visit and want to send them a sermon so they know what they're in for?

All of our sermons are online! Search for "St. Andrews Jax" on your favorite podcasting app, or find all of our sermons here.
Godly Play at St. Andrew's
Godly Play, a Montessori-style children's formation class, is here! We'll be launching episodes every two weeks at 9:00 a.m. on Sundays. Check out this week's story on YouTube at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Join us on Zoom at 9:00 a.m. each Sunday for our Bible Study class. You don't need to create an account. Just click HERE to join the conversation.
