This Week
The Twentieth Sunday After Pentecost
Join us this Sunday, online and in-person, at 10:30 am as we move through the Season After Pentecost also known as Ordinary Time.

The number of Covid cases in Jacksonville is decreasing but is still serious. As such, we have re-instated some of our Covid-19 precautions:

  • Masks are required in all indoor spaces.
  • We are offering communion in one form - the bread.
  • As always, whether you are vaccinated or unvaccinated, if you are sick or feel unwell, please watch from home. Our virtual service is still online every Sunday.

This service will be live-streamed. Tune in at 10:30 am on the St. Andrew's Jax YouTube page. You can find the bulletin on the YouTube page or linked below at the bottom of the newsletter.
Calling All Kids!
Godly Play, a Montessori-style children's formation class, is finally in-person!

You may remember we were telling Godly Play stories on YouTube, but there is so much more to a Godly Play Class.

Bring your kiddos (ages 3-10) to Classroom 2 on October 10th at 9:15 a.m. If you would like, sit in on the first class to see how Godly Play will help your child come to know God

Please let Mtr. Lisa know if you are interested in helping build and grow our Children's Ministry at St. Andrew's.
Adult Formation Returns!
Mtr. Lisa will begin a new Christian Formation class on October 10th at 9:15 a.m. in the Parish Hall.

Join us for "Stewardship: More Than Money!" Much like her class on Evangelism, Mtr. Lisa takes a topic that terrifies ordinary Episcopalians and digs into the origins of Stewardship, what it means to be God's steward here on earth, and discusses how we can be God's stewards here and now.
Adult Bible Study is
on Hold
Instead, join us for our Stewardship class in the Parish Hall.
Want to be Baptized?
Entry into the church is always through the waters of Baptism. If you or someone you love desires to be baptized, please let Mtr. Lisa know!

Our next Baptism Sunday will be October 31st for All Saints' Day.

Update on the Bishop's Search
Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Your Nomination Committee is entering the next phase of our holy task of being guided to the next bishop of our diocese.

We are humbled by the thoughtful and diligent participation in listening sessions and the search survey by so many in our diocese as you have shared your thoughts about challenges and opportunities, dreams and aspirations for our future.

More than 900 people answered the survey distributed both online and through our parishes, and some 400 people participated in 15 in-person and online sessions held throughout our diocese. Additionally, we conducted special sessions for the diocesan staff and our governing bodies, including the Standing Committee, Diocesan Council, and Foundation Board. We also had a clergy-only session and a powerfully essential reflections session just with Bishop Howard as he shared thoughts about his time as our bishop and what he saw as opportunities to come.

Using this information, we are completing a profile of our diocese that highlights who we are as a body of Christian believers and how we nurture each other and those in need of care in our regions. The profile describes our part of Florida to give potential candidates a glimpse of our way of life for those who are unfamiliar. But most importantly, the profile points to the positive activities in our diocese, opportunities to address, and the attributes you have said we desire in our next bishop.

The profile is a vital tool for candidates discerning their call to apply. It will be posted in mid-October on www.FloridaBishopSearch.org, and we invite you to please visit and read the profile for yourself.

At the profile’s posting in mid-October, nominations and applications for bishop coadjutor will be open, and we will receive applications for one month, after which our prayerful selection of candidates for the final slate of candidates begins.

We are grateful for your continued prayers and support. Children of the Living God need each other.

Peace and Blessings,
Jeff Hoffman
Chair of the Nominating Committee

A Prayer For Our Next Bishop
Almighty God, giver of every good gift, we pray that you would look graciously upon the Diocese of Florida, and so guide the minds and hearts of the Nominating Committee as they prayerfully select candidates for the election of the next bishop of this diocese, that we may receive a faithful pastor who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries: Guide also the minds and hearts of the candidates who will come before the Nominating Committee, that this process will be a time of discernment and growth in their lives and ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
We all need extra prayer sometimes. If you or someone you love is in need of prayer, please submit your prayer request here: Prayer Request. We will publish the prayer list weekly so the entire parish can keep you in their prayers.

Want to Share an Event?
If you would like to highlight your event or program in our newsletter, all submissions are due the Wednesday before publication at 5:00pm. Please email submissions to Mtr. Lisa.
