Cuba Trip -- NOTE THE DATE CHANGES
St. Anne's will return to Cuba October 14-21, 2017 to continue our work with the Episcopal Church of Cuba. On our 4th trip to the Island we look forward to continuing to celebrate and build relationship with our Cuban brothers and sisters. In the past we helped with the reconstruction of La Trinidad Episcopal Church in Bermeja, which was able to reopen its doors to the community in 2016. We also delivered two water filtration units to provide clean drinking water for the community. This is an exciting opportunity for adults 18 and older looking to grow in their faith. Please join us for an informational meeting on April 23 at 10:15 in Room 4 to learn more about our trip. If you have any questions contact Eleanor Ware at  [email protected]. Peace.

Front Porch Singers
St. Anne's Front Porch Singers entertain seniors citizens with music and song.  You do not have to be a great singer to join the group we are a no-audition musical group and no experience is necessary! It's all very casual and light-hearted, and the residents often join in with us, which is very gratifying and validating. When the hour is up, we usually say hello individually and it is obvious the listeners appreciate our continuing presence, and always thank us.   Signing up does not translate to regular attendance, join us when you are able and willing.  As with all our Outreach missions we welcome your friends and neighbors even if they're not members of St. Anne's.

If you'd like to join this special ministry, even if it's only once a month or every other month, please sign up here  http://tinyurl.com/sa-fps

Java Junction Coffee Hour Has Begun!!
Our first Sunday was a roaring success, but we have only just begun our work in coffee hour and we need a lot of help. Each Sunday, the Java Junction team will seek volunteers to bring in food for one of four different food categories (sweets, fruits, proteins and veggies), and/or help with setup/refilling/cleanup.

Folks who sign up to bring in one of the four different food categories only need to bring in enough for whichever service(s) you sign up for, and drop off their food off at least 30 minutes prior to the end of the service (or for the earliest service you sign up for). Your help building this ministry will go a long way to emphasize our welcoming atmosphere at St. Anne's. If you're interested, sign up at the Welcome Table, send an email to LJ Donnell
or sign up at the signup genius: http://tinyurl.com/sa-coffeehour
You can also reach out to Jennie Wente, Nina Allen, Eileen Ellis or Eve Angerosa.

Stewards of the Earth -- Celebrate Earth Day for The Entire Month of April!
It is April and we have begun our "Stewardship of the Earth" Initiative! We will offer different tips in the e-news and in the (now green!) announcements on how to better conserve the environment around us at home, at church and beyond!

There is a lovely tree in the Library. Next to this tree there is a little basket of bright green leaves! On these leaves please contribute your prayers and plans for the world. If you have set up a compost pile in your back yard, tell us! If you have a prayer for the rain forests, write it down and hang it up! Every leaf we see gives us heart and hope for the future of our planet.

There will also be bright pink blossoms on this tree. These all contain items from our Green Committee Wish List. Here at St. Anne's we are hoping to keep pushing to be more conservation minded, that includes everything from recycled paper to automatic light switches. Pluck the flowers from the tree that represent your donation to the fund and write a check or place cash in an envelope for the amount on the flower. In the memo line or in a note in the envelope write that the money is designated for the green fund and the particular item you hope to have purchased, then either place it in the mail or LJ Donnell's mailbox in the office! Helping us fulfill our goal would be a perfect way for you to be a steward of the earth!

"Let us hear You through our encounters with Your creation." - EfM Prayer

Monday Book Group Discussion
Our next book will be It's All Over But the Shoutin, by Rick Bragg and discussed on April 24th at Cafe Montmartre.
This haunting, harrowing, gloriously moving recollection of a life on the American margin is the story of Rick Bragg, who grew up dirt-poor in northeastern Alabama, seemingly destined for either the cotton mills or the penitentiary, and instead became a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter for The New York Times. It is the story of Bragg's father, a hard-drinking man with a murderous temper and the habit of running out on the people who needed him most.
But at the center of this soaring memoir is Bragg's mother, who went eighteen years without a new dress so that her sons could have school clothes and picked other people's cotton so that her children wouldn't have to live on welfare alone. Evoking these lives--and the country that shaped and nourished them--with artistry, honesty, and compassion, Rick Bragg brings home the love and suffering that lie at the heart of every family. The result is unforgettable.
