Our Healing Prayer group attended Sacred Threads where St. Anne's member Dabney Narvaez (see photo) has a quilt on display.  Sacred Threads  creates a dignified exhibit of artwork that touches all those who view it on both spiritual and personal levels. They share the experiences of quilters whose stories would be a source of healing and strength for others by allowing the artist to submit a statement which would be exhibited with the artwork that described the meaning or inspiration for the piece.  Sacred Threads is taking place locally through July 23 at Floris United Methodist Church in Herndon. For more info on Healing Prayer, please contact Mtr. Laura

Movies that make ME think!
Every Sunday evening in July join us for our member-curated summer series, Movies That Make ME Think! We asked members of St. Anne's to select and talk about their favorite movies and they've come up with a wonderful collection of movies. The movies will start around 6pm with your pot-luck donations, no pizza in the summer. Each week we'll watch a movie and discuss it with the person who recommended it. Space is limited so please reserve your seat as soon as possible at

7/23 Schindler's List (1993/R/Drama/195 minutes) - In German-occupied Poland during World War II, Oskar Schindler gradually becomes concerned for his Jewish workforce after witnessing their persecution by the Nazis.
Presented by Dabney & Al Narvaez

7/30 Babette's Feast (1987/G/Comedy-Drama/102 minutes) During the late 19th century, a strict religious community in a Danish village takes in a French refugee from the Franco-Prussian War as a servant to the late pastor's daughters.
Presented by Fr. John and Gabe Kajeckas

Monday Book Group Discussion
Our next meeting is Monday, September 18th at 12:30 p.m. The meeting will be located at CafĂ© Montmartre.

Evicted by Matthew Desmond
In Evicted, Harvard sociologist and MacArthur "Genius" Matthew Desmond follows eight families in Milwaukee as they struggle to keep a roof over their heads. Hailed as "wrenching and revelatory" (The Nation), "vivid and unsettling" (New York Review of Books), Evicted transforms our understanding of poverty and economic exploitation while providing fresh ideas for solving one of 21st-century America's most devastating problems. Its unforgettable scenes of hope and loss remind us of the centrality of home, without which nothing else is possible
