Greetings!

This second Sunday of May we celebrate Mother’s Day. I would like to offer my sincere gratitude to all the mothers of our parish for your love, sacrifice, tenderness, faith, and daily witness of Christian motherhood. Mothers reflect in a unique way the caring and faithful love of God. Thank you for the countless hidden acts of generosity through which you nurture your families and help pass on the faith to the next generation.

May the Lord richly bless all mothers with peace, strength, joy, and good health. May Our Blessed Mother Mary watch over you and your families, and may you always know how deeply you are loved and appreciated by your parish community. Please be assured of my prayers for all mothers, living and deceased, during our parish Masses this weekend.

In the Gospel for the 6^th Sunday of Easter Jesus promises His disciples: “I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, the Holy Spirit to be with you forever.” In these final days before Pentecost, I encourage all of us to prepare spiritually for the coming of the Holy Spirit through prayer, Scripture reading, Eucharistic adoration, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. God never forces His gifts upon us; He asks for open hearts. The more we open ourselves to the Holy Spirit with humility and faith, the more He can fill us with His wisdom, peace, courage, and transforming power. Pentecost is not only something we celebrate - it is a grace we are invited to receive.

At the same time, Pentecost reminds us that the Spirit always sends us outward in mission. The apostles did not remain behind locked doors after receiving the Holy Spirit. They went forth with courage to proclaim the Gospel and to serve the needs of the Church. In that same spirit, our Archdiocese has begun this year’s Project Advance campaign.

Fr. Maciej and I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your extraordinary generosity and faithful support of Project Advance over the past years. Thanks to your kindness and sacrifice, our parish has been able not only to support important ministries throughout the Archdiocese of Vancouver, but also to address significant needs within our own parish community.

A substantial portion of the funds raised beyond our diocesan goal remains in the parish and helps us pay down the loan for our church building. Your support has also encouraged us to begin planning an important new project: the construction of a new parish office and rectory in one building. After careful consideration, it has become clear that the cost of renovating the current rectory and office would be extremely high and not the best long-term solution for our parish. A new building will better serve the needs of our growing parish community for many years to come.

We humbly ask you to continue supporting Project Advance according to your ability. Every contribution, large or small, becomes part of the Church’s mission of bringing Christ’s love and truth to others.

May the Holy Spirit renew our parish with deeper faith, greater unity, and missionary zeal. And may Mary, Spouse of the Holy Spirit, intercede for all of us.

PROJECT ADVANCE 2026 IS NOW UNDERWAY AT OUR PARISH!

There will be volunteers in the lobby this weekend and for the next few weeks to help with your pledges. Of course, you can also go online at projectadvance.ca  or by dropping it in one of the collection boxes or at office or by calling 604-683-0281 ext. 323.

If you have not yet received your pledge form and letter in the mail, it will be coming soon. In the meantime, there are extra pledge forms with the volunteers in the lobby.

This year’s campaign is especially exciting as we are expecting that it will help our parish start building a much-needed new rectory. Of course, Project Advance continues to support life-changing programs throughout the diocese by supporting the work of evangelization, charities, various ministries, as well as building new secondary schools that nurture our young people. This year our goal from the diocese to support this work is $63,300. 

ALL pledges received above that amount go directly to St. Clare’s. Last year we raised $220,203 and we set our target this year to $250,000 for the new rectory project. Remember, every gift regardless of its size make a difference.  Every gift counts.

If you wish to book a Mass Intention, please send your request via email at stclareofassisi@shaw.ca giving the name of the person, whether it is for a living or deceased person, who it is from and if you have any preferences for the day of the week, a weekend mass or specific date. We will try to book your mass intention as close to the request as possible.  Please note that there may be unforeseen situations when your scheduled date may be changed without notice.

The suggested offering for a mass intention is $10 and can be brought to the office, mailed to 1320 Johnson Street, Coquitlam, V3B 4T5 or dropped in the collection box in the church. Enclose your offering in an envelope clearly marked with the name and date of your Mass intention. Your offering will go to the priest who says the mass, not to the church.

If you are unable to use email, mass intentions may be phoned in at 604-941-4800.

We are able to accept multiple Mass intentions on Fridays. For all other days, the priest can accept one intention only per day.
