From Fr. Sean

One of the promises that we make in the Baptismal Covenant is that we will continue in the apostle’s teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of the bread and in the prayers.  The fellowship portion of the promise relates to our committing to be in community with our fellow Christians from time to time. Over the last several weeks we have had a number of wonderful opportunities to be in fellowship outside Sunday mornings. A few weeks back, we held the parish paddle and then just last Sunday we held our spring Evensong. (See below for pictures) A special thanks to both Chuck DeBevoise for organizing the paddle and to our choir and choir director, Christopher Hodges, for putting together another fabulous Evensong.

One of the best parts of being in Christian community are the fellowship opportunities that abound. They are opportunities that allow our little Christian community called St. Dunstan’s to bond. As we close out our program year, I hope that you will consider one last fellowship opportunity, our first annual wine tasting. (See below for more details') Not only will we have the opportunity to try some really great wine but we will also have the opportunity to enjoy each others company. So if you are free on June 1st, I hope you will consider joining us at our first ever wine tasting.

Yours in Christ,

Guest Preacher: Reverend Anne Gardner

Sunday, June 16th

The Reverend Anne Gardner will serve as our guest preacher, offering a reflection on her experience of walking the famed Camino de Santiago, a 500-mile path that extends across the width of northern Spain.

She has written a book about this extraordinary journey, recently published by Adelaide Books (NY/Lisbon), titled And So I Walked. The book recounts both the challenges of completing a long-distance hike as well as the emotional and spiritual undercurrents her time on the trail revealed.

Gardner currently runs the chaplaincy program at Harvard-Westlake, a private independent high school in Los Angeles. Prior to accepting this position, she spent twelve years as the Director of Spiritual and Religious Life at nearby Phillips Academy, Andover.

For many years Gardner has worked as a freelance writer, crafting pieces for various outlets including NPR, The Boston Globe, The Providence Journal, and the National Catholic Reporter, among others. (see her webpage for more details, https://www.anne-gardner.com)

Please mark your calendars and join us on June 16th as we welcome Reverend Gardner. Copies of her book will be available for sale and signature ($20) following the service (cash, check, or VENMO all accepted).

THE COLORS & SEASONS of the CHURCH YEAR

This Sunday is Trinity Sunday and our altar will be dressed in white. White is the color of joy, celebration and peace. It is also found on our altar at Christmas and Easter as well as All Saint’s Day and Christ the King Day, both festival days in November.

We are also reentering Ordinary Time in our liturgical calendar and, after this week, green will replace white on the altar. We will carry the gift of the Holy Spirit with us as we move through all these Ordinary Time Sundays (23-28 depending on the year) until we reach Advent in December.

Our Vision

We envision a Welcoming Community where all are accepted, valued, and loved, regardless of where they are with God; where we are Nourished by Worship in common prayer, deepening our connection with the Holy, so that refreshed and recharged, we may go out into the world "in peace, to love and serve the Lord"; where we are Growing in Faith through thoughtful questioning and mutual discussion, studying the Bible and Christian tradition from modern perspectives to seek higher and deeper truth; and where by Serving Our Neighbors and each other, we may follow Christ's way of love.
