Outreach Sunday
Sunday, Jan. 17, Online and In-Person
This Sunday we welcome the Rev. Richard Lee from St. Mark's in City Heights. We have a deep and long relationship with St. Mark's, since our weekly donations of food go to their Food Pantry.

Stay tuned! At the conclusion of the online service, be on the lookout for a special Outreach Sunday "Quarantine Edition" video with messages from many of the ministries we support. This video segment will also be available on the blog.
St. James Knitters Honored
Barbara Alcorn shares this for the encouragement of all our outreach knitters and the general St. James community.

Yesterday I took a donation of 48 cans of Oatmeal from Trader Joe's to St. Luke’s for their food delivery today. Katherine, the Interim Executive Director of RefugeeNet, gave me this. She said she had just gotten it from Ms. Gomez’s office. I had to share it with you. Keep up your mask making and knitting. We are making a difference. To see the certificate on a full page, view it on our blog HERE

Calling for Readers and Prayer Leaders for Virtual Services
Since the introduction of weekly video worship services at the start of the pandemic, many readers and intercessors (prayer leaders) have served in preparation of the video services. We have encouraged family groups and individuals to participate in reading the weekly lessons and leading the prayers.
If you are interested in joining this ministry or have any questions, please contact Walter DuMelle ([email protected]) by January 15th. The hope is to have a “set” schedule every 3 months, with readers serving approximately twice a quarter and Prayer leaders serving once a quarter.

Thank you for considering joining the rewarding ministry of sharing the Word of the Lord and the Prayers of the People.

"Decide to Follow Jesus"

Responding to the events of the week the Rev’d D. Rebecca Dinovo offers that “We do well to remember today that the spirits of this world and the spirit of this age is not the spirit of Christ.” As we enter the season of Epiphany, she leads us in prayer to renew our baptismal vows and “…vanquish the spirit of this age.”
