Choral Evensong

Sunday, June 4, 5:00 pm, St. James


The final Evensong of the season will celebrate the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity, sung by the Choir of St. James. It will feature the Preces & Responses of Martin Neary, Magnificat & Nunc Dimittis in F of George Dyson, and the anthem “Thou, O God, Art Praised in Sion” by Malcolm Boyle.

There will be a sherry reception on the patio after the service.

Summer Reading for Adults and Families


While the Adult forums are on hiatus, it's time to get your summer reading going. Here are the selections for the All Parish Summer Reading books. Our reading will culminate in Fall Adult Forums and intergenerational discussions. This year's selections are chosen by The Rev'd Christina Miller and Leighton Jones, Director of Youth & Children.

EYE Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser

Sunday, June 11, 9:00 am, Parish Hall


All are welcome to indulge at this open donation fundraiser. No tickets required. Please come and meet the youth going to EYE and enjoy a morning breakfast together. All funds raised will go to support parishioner, Luke Daly, who was chosen as one of only twelve youth from across the diocese to participate in the tri-annual Episcopal Youth Event, this year being held in Washington, DC in July.

Come hungry, and Luke thanks you for your support.

LUNCH COMBO: All youth (rising 6th-rising 12th) are

invited to the courtyard for lunch, fellowship and a

small Bible Study after the 10:00 service.

VBS Registration Now Open!


This year we will be offering TWO age-based camps.


Love is... Godly Play VBS 

June 26-30 from 9:00 am-12:00 pm

for ages 2.5 years to rising Kindergarten campers  

Max: 12 campers


Love is... VBS 

July 17-20 from 9:00 am-3:00 pm

for rising 1st-6th grade campers

*Campers must have completed Kindergarten to register

Max: 36-40 campers (depending on volunteers/leaders)

St. James to Visit Vida Joven Orphanage

Saturday, June 24, 8:30 am departure


The SJBTS Outreach Committee and Vida Joven Board members (Joanne Fox, Lynn Hadley, Leighton Jones) would like to invite you and your family to join us for a special orphanage visit in Tijuana on June 24th. All will meet at St. John’s EC in Chula Vista at

8:30am, where transportation will be provided to and from the orphanage. Lunch will be provided. Passports are required. Depending on traffic, we will return to St. John’s by midafternoon. For more information and to sign up, please contact Joanne

Donations Now Being Accepted for 2023 White Elephant Sale

Sundays, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, Parish Hall


The White Elephant Sale Committee is now accepting donations on Sundays from 9:00am -12 noon in or near the Parish Hall and every Sunday leading up to the sale. Kindly bring your new or lightly used items during those hours for drop off. This year the committee is NOT accepting the following items: lamps, empty picture frames, men's shoes, furniture, and electronics. The 91st Annual White Elephant Sale will be held on August 25 & 26 and will take place completely on the St. James campus. Thank you for your support of this vital outreach of St. James.

Musica Vivace Closes their 2023 Piano Series “Young Wanderer”

We are proud to present our second season this year featuring three winners of prestigious international competitions under the theme "Young Wanderers." This month we are showcasing Rodolfo Leone, an Italian-born pianist who was the first-prize winner of the 2017 International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna.
