Every year representatives of the churches in the Southeast Michigan Synod come together to do the business of the church. Once again, St. John is the host!

The First Thursday

We gather on the first Thursday of each month for fellowship, food and conversation. Please bring:

Thursday Bible Study!

Thursdays @ 10:30 am

We continue this 8-week program covering the book Falling Upward - Spritualty for the Two Halves of Life by Richard Rohr. Each week we will explore how we have been influenced by society and where a life of faith can bring new clarity to who we are and what we are where we are going.

Yard to Table

Wednesdays @ 6:00 pm

Yard to Table continues with our regular Wednesday evening gathering. Gatherings feature service in the garden, reflection, a meal, and fellowship.Some Gatherings coincide with garden skills classes.


Our next Garden Class will take place on June 10 when we will learn about Container Gardening. Bring a friend! Come and improve you gardening knowledge and share with others. More information here.

Fourth Fridays Food & Fellowship

Join us the Fourth Friday of each month for Food and Fellowship.

 

Our theme is "exploring the world and its people through food." Each month we'll feature food from a different place - potluck style. We'll share a meal together, enjoy some good company, maybe play some games, and decide together what else we might like to do as this community grows.

Create and Care Camp

July 13-17

St. John's own summer camp is coming! Kids entering 1st through 6th grade in the fall will get to create art, explore life in the garden and learn about God’s amazing creation and how to care for it. Each day will have a theme that will be illustrated by story time, an adventure in the garden, and an art project with a pause for a snack. Weather permitting, all activities will take place outdoors.

Help Victims of House Fire

On April 10 there was a house fire on Newberry Street in Pontiac. The folks at Micah 6 knew both the family who lived there and the person who started the fire.


They have reached out to help both parties. You can read more about what they have done and make a donation to help their efforts here.

Wednesday, June 10 @ 10:00 am Blue Hat Coffee

We meet at 10:00 am at Blue Hat Coffee in downtown Farmington on the second Wednesday and the fourth Monday of each month for brunch and fellowship.​​​​​ All women are invited to join us! For more information, contact Gilda Wong or Loraine Stear.

Jiri Tranovský, hymnwriter, died 1637

Tranovský is considered to be the father of Slovak hymnody as well as an important reformer of the Slavic church. He translated the Augsburg Confession (the basis of Lutheran teachings) and published a collection of Slovak hymns.

Visit of Mary to Elizabeth

This festival marks the occasion when Mary, pregnant with Jesus, visited her cousin Elizabeth who was herself pregnant with John. Elizabeth pronounced Mary "blessed among women," and Mary responded with the song called the Magnificat.


Monday, June 1, 2026

Justin, martyr at Rome, died around 165

Born of pagan parents, Justin was influenced by an elderly Christian in Ephesus. He became a teacher of philosophy and the Christian faith. Jailed for practicing an unauthorized religion, he refused to renounce his faith and was beheaded.


Wednesday, June 3, 2026

The Martyrs of Uganda, died 1886

On June 3, 1886, thirty-two young men were burned to death for refusing to renounce Christianity. The confident manner in which these Christians went to their deaths contributed to a much stronger Christian presence in Uganda.


John XXIII, Bishop of Rome, died 1963

When elected pope, the former Angelo Roncalli was expected to be a short-term caretaker. He showed great spirit, though, and convened the Second Vatican Council which helped bring great changes to Roman Catholic and other churches.
