The New Choir Season Begins This Sunday!

Join us August 30 at 9:00 am!

We plan to gather in the sanctuary before the service on Sunday, August 30 for our first Open Choir of the year. Everyone is welcome.

Like to sing, but don't want to commit? Come sing with us that day and see how you like it. We're going to sing "Come to the Welcome Table" by Joseph Martin. Here's the music!

Yard to Table

Wednesdays @ 6:00 pm

Yard to Table continues with our regular Wednesday evening gathering. Gatherings feature service in the garden, reflection, a meal, and fellowship. Some Gatherings coincide with garden skills classes. Our next garden skills class will be on September 16: Sheet Mulching.

Could You Be a Coffee Host??!!

We can't have Coffee Hour without Coffee Hosts! 
It's easy! 

1. Before the service, set up the coffee and hot water urns and get them going.
2. Bring something to munch - bake (or buy!) some cookies or muffins. It doesn't have to be anything fancy.
3. If it feels like too much for you, partner with a friend!

If you think you might be willing to try this, please contact Caran Hoffman. She'll show you what to do and help you get started.

Thank You Shoppers!

We are still short about 90 erasers and 50 pencil sharpeners! We have enough of everything else to make our goal of 150 School Kits. We can also use more towels and soap to catch up with the amount we have of the other Personal Care Kit items.

• Our day to assemble and box up the Kits is Monday, October 5, at 10:00 in the MPR.
• Delivery to Lutheran Westland is Tuesday, October 13, from 9:00-12:00, NOT Monday, October 12, as previously announced at the Women’s meeting. More details about the delivery will be posted later. 

Thanks to the generosity of our members, the entire cost of the school bags has nearly been covered! Thank you to all who support this important ministry!

Fun with St. John House

The Guys from St. John House and our team members went Putt Putt golfing on Tuesday, August 18. We all met in the lobby, got our club and ball and headed out to the 18-hole at Fun Way Amusement. We had enough people for two teams. It was a beautiful night for an outside activity. Eddie was the staff member who transported the guys to our event. This was hosted by Allan and Loraine. Karol, Lauri, Sue, Peter, Al and Nancy joined in the fun. Come along on one of our activities sometime. We would love to have you join us. Hearts Hands and Voices Monday Nights

beginning September 14

The staff at HHAV are reveling in this year's amazing summer camp experience and are eager to keep the immersive learning with Dr. B going into the school year.

Being part of the Monday Night Program does not require previous HHAV experience. All are invited. Ask your friends to come and give it a try.

The Fall term runs weekly through December 14. Click here for the Fall schedule.

Each Monday Night we gather at 6:30 PM for a light supper followed by rehearsals with Dr. B and friends until 8:00 PM. The "tuition" is providing supper for the group at least once per term. Students entering Grades 2-7 are included; students entering Grade 8 and above are invited for leadership learning opportunities.

Fourth Fridays Food & Fellowship

Friday, September 25 @ 6:00 pm

Join us the Fourth Friday of each month for Food and Fellowship. Our theme is exploring the world and its people through food. Each month we'll feature food from a different place - potluck style. We'll share a meal together, enjoy some good company and maybe play some games.​

If you are a Meijer shopper, they have gone to a pricing policy where you need to buy two (or 3) of an item to get a good sale price. Why not bring the extra? Thank you for your participation in this important ministry.

Nikolai Frederik Severin Grundtvig, bishop, renewer of the church, died 1872

Grundtvig was, with Søren Kierkegaard, one of the two great Danish theologians of the nineteenth century. As a pastor, he battled the prevalent idea that Christianity was more a philosophy than divine revelation. He wrote over a thousand hymns.
