Hurricane Irma Debris Removal Program
The St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners and staff would like to thank the community for their patience as we work diligently to remove Hurricane Irma debris as quickly as possible. When Hurricane Irma impacted St. Johns County in September, it left approximately 600,000 cubic yards of debris in the form of fallen limbs, trees, fences, docks, and home and business damage.

St. Johns County immediately began a community-wide debris removal program that first targeted the main thoroughfares and areas most impacted. Every street in St. Johns County will receive an initial pickup of debris, with subsequent passes being conducted as needed until all storm-related debris has been removed.

St. Johns County's debris removal program has been unexpectedly prolonged due to resources being limited by Hurricane Harvey impacting Texas and the widespread impact of Irma to the State of Florida. In addition, the size of several debris removal trucks prevents passage down some of the County's more narrow streets which creates the need for multiple passes by smaller trucks. All storm debris is projected to be removed by December.

To view the Debris Removal Program Update for the latest collection totals, please visit www.sjcfl.us. If you have any questions or concerns regarding debris removal, please contact St. Johns County at 904.827.6980 or email solidwaste@sjcfl.us .

Please Note: St. Johns County cannot pick up debris located on state roads. Please call the Florida Department of Transportation Debris Hotline at 904.825.5036 to report debris on a state road and request service.
