Hot Breakfast
Breakfast this coming Sunday, October 4, will be provided by guest chefs, Peter & Alissa Finnis.

Please plan on joining everyone in Board Hall between 8:30am and 9:45 where you will not only enjoy great food but a time for fellowship.

Puerto Rico Disaster Relief Effort
On October 7th following the 10:00 service, our congregation will welcome Christina Cabrera from Puerto Rico.

She will be visiting with our congregation to discuss ongoing disaster relief efforts in Puerto Rico. Christina will be meeting with the Reverend Canon Rafael Zorrill from the Bishop's office of the Episcopal Diocese of Puerto Rico to discuss and identify specific needs of individuals that the Diocese serves.

This conversation will be shared directly with us during her visit, and we hope that our congregation will be able to identify a project within Puerto Rico that we can support.

We hope that you will stay after the service to meet Christina and learn more about Puerto Rico's ongoing needs!

Introduction to Cristina Cabrera
Cristina Cabrera was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1976. She graduated with cum laude honors from the School of Public Affairs of American University in Washington, DC, where she also took part in the Semester at Sea Study Abroad program. Cristina continued her postgraduate studies with a Masters in Environmental Management with a concentration in Environmental Planning from the Universidad Metropolitana of PR receiving summa cum laude honors. Her thesis work consisted of a study of industrial ecology evaluating the proposed synergies of an intended Eco-Industrial Park with a waste to energy facility as its anchor for Arecibo, PR. In 2005, Cristina received her Graduate Certificate in Environmental Regulations and Permits from the Universidad de Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras campus. Additionally, she obtained a Graduate Certificate from New York University's Schack Institute of Real Estate. Professionally, Cristina served as investigative assistant for the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, working on the project "Puerto Rico: Island of Sustainability" under the tutelage of Marian Chertow, Ph.D. and Weslynne Ashton, Ph.D. As of 2009, she works as Special Assistant to the Secretary for the Department of Environmental and Natural Resources. In this capacity, Cristina has led the 2010 revision of Fishing Regulations of Puerto Rico, the Adopt a Beach Program, and a multitude of other state and federal projects. In November of 2011 Cristina was honored to receive the title of State Forester of Puerto Rico, a position she has held ever since- in particular being retained by a new administration in 2013. In recognition of her work as State Forester for Puerto Rico, Cabrera was awarded a fellowship from the National Association of State Foresters Foundation to complete the "Senior Executives in State and Local Government" certification from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. Cabrera completed the aforementioned Executive Education program on July of 2015.

Recital
4-Hand Organ Recital with Lisa Lewis and Robert Bozeman, St Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church, Sunday October 7 at 5:00 pm. With music of Antonio Soler and John Rutter.

The Book of Daniel will be the next book of the Bible we explore on Wednesday mornings from 9:45 - 11:00, led by Fr. Michael.

There are so many familiar stories in Daniel, but how well do we really know them?  What do the apocalyptic prophecies in the second half of Daniel mean?

Come join us, and find out.

Donations for Fall Festival
St. Luke's youth is teaming up with Anchorage Pres. Youth to work a pumpkin painting booth for kids of the community at the Uspiritus Fall Festival on Sunday Oct. 21st from 12-5 PM.

We are asking the congregation to donate small pumpkins or money to purchase supplies. Deadline for donations is October 18.

Children's Choir
Our Music Director is excited to announce that she's forming a new choir for boys and girls ages 7 and up (unchanged voices).

We'll choose the rehearsal time that works best for everyone, tentatively Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 pm.  Hopefully this choir can sing at the 4:30 pm service on Christmas Eve!  Choir is fun!

Please contact Lisa Lewis at 593-8417 or email [email protected]
.  Let your neighbors and friends know.

You don't have to be a member of St. Luke's to participate in the choir.

Wednesday Walks
Join us at the Anchorage Trail each Wednesday at 8:30 AM (weather permitting) for an invigorating walk along the trail that leads us thru a wildflower meadow where you might see deer, colorful birds, turtles and other species of both animals and plants.

After our walk, we can come to St. Luke's to hear the word of God at our Wednesday morning Bible Study. Looking forward to being "on the trail again!"
