St. Mary's Cleanup Day
This Saturday, August 3
10am-2pm @ St. Mary's
Attention St. Mary's Parishioners:
Join us for our 2nd annual Church Cleanup Day. Last year was a big success and we had a great turnout. We will meet in the parish hall and choose a "chore" that will make our St. Mary shine on her big day (dusting, polishing, and clearing out the nooks and crannies just to name a few) . Join us for fun and fellowship and coming together for a great cause. A lite lunch will be provided.

No need to R.S.V.P. Just show up at around 10:00. No experience necessary!
Book Study
St. Mary's family,

As I mentioned on Sunday, N.T. Wright's short book on the Lord's Prayer has had a profound impact on my understanding of the the prayer Our Lord gave us and ultimately my prayer life. It is 68 pages long and quite accessible. I encourage you to pick up a copy and join me on Sunday, August 25th after the 10:00 Mass for a discussion of the book. If the discussion is robust and the group sees value in meeting a second time, we can certainly do that.

You can purchase a copy on Amazon for $11.00 (paperback or Kindle) by clicking here .

Peace,
Fr. Charles

Healing Pathway Victim Service Agenc y, a not for profit 501c3, is once again collecting school supplies for kids. Agency clients are kids ages 0-17 in the KC metro area who’ve lost a parent or in home family member to homicide. Generic school supplies such as pencils, pencil boxes, crayons and markers, glue sticks and age appropriate scissors, Kleenex and backpacks, and spiral bound paper wide ruled and narrow ruled are needed. Cash donations to buy supplies are also welcome. A collection box will be in the back of the nave through August 11. Contact parishioner Virginia Murray for details by clicking here .
What does it mean to be an Anglo-Catholic in the Episcopal Church? What are the historical and theological impacts of the Anglo-Catholic movement? How does this affect the ceremonial and ritualistic practices in the liturgy? How does it lead us to serve others in the world?

Part II in this series will be this Sunday, August 4th after the 10:00 Mass, and will focus on the liturgical and social justice implications of Anglo-Catholicism.

Mary Day: Our Patronal Feast
On Sunday, August 18th we will celebrate a festive High Mass in honor of our Patroness the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The choir will sing Antonio Lotti's Missa del primo tuono as the Mass setting. Also known as the “Missa Brevis in D”, this Mass setting was composed in the 1730's in the Prima pratica style which is reminiscent of earlier polyphony from the Renaissance era. You can listen to the Kyrie eleison here . The anthem is Lotti's Gaude Maria Virgo.

A festive reception will follow the service.

Mary Day is a great opportunity to invite friends!
