The Epiphany of Our Lord Jesus Christ
The Feast of the Epiphany
Wednesday, January 6th
6:00 p.m.

Epiphany, which marks the coming of the Wise Men, is traditionally a time for house blessings. It is the time of year when we are focused on the Holy Family and on Jesus’ being home with his parents Joseph and Mary, first in Bethlehem, then in Nazareth. During the time of the church year between Epiphany and Lent, it is thus appropriate for us to give thanks for our own homes and ask God's blessing upon the coming year.

At the service, we will bless chalk that you can take home with you to bless your home. Here is an explanation of this practice from Lesser Feasts and Fasts 2018:

"It is a practice in some communities to bless chalk on Epiphany so that people may use it to bless their homes. Traditionally, the chalking is done above the lintel [front door] and takes this form: 20+C+M+B+21 - The letters are the abbreviation for the Latin phrase "Christus mansionem benedicat" - "Christ bless this house" (A second meaning and mnemonic device is “Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar”, the traditional names for the Magi). The + signs represent the cross, and 20 - 21 is the year."

Virtual Sunday Morning Coffee Hour
Because we are unable to meet in person for our Sunday Reception, we are making every effort to stay connected with a virtual coffee hour after the Sunday worship.

We have recently been sharing a simple recipe to make beforehand to bring to the virtual reception. This week's recipe is Baked Pumpkin Fritters. If you would like to try your hand at making some, click here for the recipe. Grab a cup of coffee and hop on your computer or phone as we break bread together.

Click here (password is STM2020) and someone will be there to welcome you into this virtual gathering.

Even if you don't make anything and can only stay a minute or so, pop in and say hello. We'd love to see you!
