Wednesdays at St. Mary's

There will no longer be a 12:05 p.m. Mass on Wednesdays. Between now and the beginning of Lent (3/6/2019), there will be a short Eucharist after Evening Prayer on Wednesday evenings.

Evening Prayer begins at 6:00 p.m. with the Eucharist immediately following.

Urban Necessities Pantry

The Urban Necessities Project , a ministry of St. Mary's, St. Augustine's, and Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, is a collaborative effort to serve the City Center community in Kansas City. Members of The Project seek to fulfill a need within the community to provide basic non-food items for individuals and families such as toiletries and household necessities. The Project received an initial grant from the Deanery to begin our mission. In order to provide a sustainable service, we hope to involve all members of our parish communities as we come together on behalf of the individuals in our city who need our help.

February and March Donation Drive

toilet paper (4 pack)

bath soap (individually wrapped 4 oz bar)

shampoo (12-14 oz)

deodorant (men’s and women’s, 3-4 oz stick)

Donations can be dropped off in the baskets by the baptismal font in the back of the nave.

We will have an exploratory meeting on Sunday, February 17 ^th after the 10:00 Mass for anyone who might want to volunteer and would like more information. In the meantime, you may also contact Jen Dean if you have questions about The Project! She can be reached at [email protected] .

Shrove Tuesday

Tuesday, March 5th

St. Mary's Parish Hall

Shrove Tuesday, or Mardi Gras ("Fat Tuesday") , has become associated with excess--a last fling before the penitential season of Lent begins. Pancake suppers, as well as Mardi Gras feasts of rich food and drink are an opportunity to use up the last of the winter supplies of these things, which in earlier times would have been running low by now anyway.

The clergy of the parish will be cooking pancakes for you at 6:00 p.m. on Shrove Tuesday. Come hungry and ready to eat! Bring something to drink if you wish.

12:00pm Low Mass and Imposition of Ashes

7:00pm Solemn High Mass and Imposition of Ashes with Choir

Lent is an important time of penitence, self-denial, and self-examination for each of us as individuals, and as members of St. Mary's. Join us for a somber beginning to a Holy Lent.

Wednesdays during Lent

Beginning March 13, 2019

Stations of the Cross, 6:00 p.m.

Adult Formation and Light Soup Dinner at 6:30pm

The Adult Formation will last about 30 minutes and will focus on the Way of Love . More than a program or curriculum, the Way of Love is an intentional commitment to a set of practices. It's a commitment to follow Jesus: turn, learn, pray, worship, bless, go, rest. Stay tuned for more!
