Canticle: A Song of True Motherhood
by Julian of Norwich
God chose to be our mother in all things *
and so made the foundation of his work,
most humbly and most pure, in the Virgin’s womb.
God, the perfect wisdom of all, *
arrayed himself in this humble place.
Christ came in our poor flesh *
to share a mother’s care.
Our mothers bear us for pain and for death; *
our true mother, Jesus, bears us for joy and endless life.
Christ carried us within him in love and travail, *
until the full time of his passion.
And when all was completed and he had carried us so for joy, *
still all this could not satisfy the power of his wonderful love.
All that we owe is redeemed in truly loving God, *
for the love of Christ works in us;
Christ is the one whom we love.

Is God calling you to Centering Prayer? Two Opportunities to Explore
The Centering Prayer Group continues to meet, via Zoom, every Monday at 4:30 p.m., ending promptly at 5:45 p.m. Centering Prayer is a method of contemplative prayer in which we rest silently in the presence of God, releasing thoughts and feelings, surrendering ourselves in love to the Divine presence and action in our lives. We do this in silence, with the help of a sacred word or phrase, known only to ourselves. After the 20 minute silence, we typically have a formation period with readings or film, followed by faith sharing and discussion. If you want to know more and are interested in joining, please contact either Deb Lewallen ([email protected]) or Cindy Dodson ([email protected]).
A Friday morning Centering Prayer groups has started. The format is the same except that there will be no formation, sharing or discussion. The planned schedule is 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m., every Friday. If you are interested, contact Cindy Dodson ([email protected]).

Dear Parish family and friends,
Alleluia Christ is Risen! The Lord is Risen indeed, Alleluia.
The Gospel of John presents Jesus in loving relationship with God his heavenly parent. This is presented as a model for the ideal relationship between each person and God. The writer of John's Gospel also wrote about Christ: "But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God....." With our baptism we have accepted our status as God's children and members of Mother Church. As a community we are called to nurture friendship in love, as our mothers at their very best do.
We will honor mothers on Sunday with a blessing and also remember our faithful departed mothers and grandmothers in our prayers at the Mass.
Our parish is named after Blessed Mary, who has been named the one who intercedes over our Santa Maria Valley (See the logo in the newsletter heading). We do hope that our parish can spread the mothering love of Blessed Mary in our world today.
To all mothers, I wish you a blessed day of honor and I salute you for undertaking the task of nurturing children in our world. We pray that we will work to make mothering a ministry and role which is encouraged and supported in our world today.
We are glad to be meeting on Sundays at church. We begin outdoors and then move inside for communion. At the same time, we are posting the liturgy on our Youtube channel on Saturdays. We hope to see you soon. Please call if you need pastoral care.
Blessings and much love,
Father Phil
