The Book of Psalms is Israel’s Prayer Book and Hymnal. Referring to the Psalms, Martin Luther says that this book might be described as a “little Bible” because in it is “comprehended most beautifully and briefly everything that is in the entire Bible.” This Bible Study will look at the Psalms assigned for the following Sunday’s worship service. We will look at “why and what Israel sang,” how the psalms have influenced the hymns we sing in our worship, and how they shape our ongoing life of prayer. This Bible Study is appropriate for anyone, regardless of Bible Study experience, and does not require that you attend every meeting. We are all beginners when it comes to the Bible! Participants can attend in-person and remotely. ([email protected])
One of the ministry opportunities at St. Timothy’s is the Queen City Kitchen. Prior to the COVID lockdown, two teams of parishioners served food to 100-150 people on Sundays, each team serving about three times over the course of a year. If you would like to help serve , please contact team captains John Eisenlohr [email protected] or Jon Spaccarelli [email protected]

ACRU AND GAPP SUMMER BOOK DISCUSSION

Several years ago the members of St. Timothy’s established a new prison listening program at River City Correctional Center in Camp Washington on Cincinnati’s west side. The visiting program’s mission is to provide support, encouragement, and hope to inmates in a non-judgmental, confidential environment through listening. It is an extension of the Exodus Listening Program which was started to reduce prison suicide and it has been successfully operating in Northern Kentucky jails for the past 34 years.
In this program, we had volunteers visiting both the men’s and women’s dorms on a weekly basis...until Covid-19 shut it down last spring. There was a short period of virtual visits starting early this year, and we have now been notified that in-person visits can restart this month. All volunteers must be fully vaccinated, and masking is required.
In each visit to the jail, a two-person team visits privately with individual inmates over a two-hour period. They usually listen to between 2 and 4 people in the 2-hour visit.
We are presently bringing on new listeners, both men and women. The simple process to become a listener takes about a month.
If you are interested in learning more about this ministry, please contact John
Rudolph ([email protected]) or Jane Holcer ([email protected]) for more information.
Did you know that every month members of our community send hand-written cards to parishioners who are ill, shut in, celebrating life events, or just to thank them for their ministry? Would you be willing to be a part of this ministry? If you feel called to this important ministry, please contact Beth Klaine ([email protected]).

We are still looking for additional St. Tim’s hospitality volunteers.

What do I do as a volunteer? What is it like?

During set up, we pull signs out of the closet to put along the street, put chairs out by the musicians for guests to listen, fill a jug of water for vendors, and make coffee for the.
There is plenty of time to shop, enjoy baked goods, and listen to the wonderful music too before putting everything away at noon.

Do I have to stay for the entire time?

Nope! If you can only help set up or tear down, that is fine! Kate will find a way to work you in.

We hope you’ll consider spending your Saturday mornings with us and look forward to supporting this wonderful gift to our neighborhood. See you at the market!

Mobile Food Pantry
Inter Parish Ministry (IPM) is hosting a Mobile Food Pantry on August 14 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. St. Timothy's will again be collecting cake mixes and frosting for the food pantry. We are hoping to collect 200 cake mixes and 200 tubs of frosting. Last year we found it was best if people brought one frosting mix for each cake mix. You can put the items in the green tub in the foyer at the Beechmont entrance by August 8th. Volunteers are needed on August 13 at 4:30 pm to transport the food to IHM as well as on August 14 between 10 am and 12 pm to set up and clean up and to assist the IPM staff in distributing food to the clients. If you have any questions or need further information, please contact Tom Klaine ([email protected]).
