MS Awareness Month Webinar: Navigating the COVID-19 Pandemic with Assistive Technology On Thursday, March 25th at 12 PM, The Boston Home will host an MS Awareness Webinar, "Independence through Accessibility: Navigating the COVID-19 Pandemic with Assistive Technology." Learn how The Boston Home's Rehabilitation Therapists and Assistive Technologists have leveraged widely available devices to customize solutions for residents of The Boston Home. Residents will share how they have embraced assistive technology and learned new skills to help them stay connected to family and friends throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Anthony F. Cordeiro Charitable Foundation Grants New Rehabilitation Equipment The Boston Home is deeply grateful to Anthony F. Cordeiro Charitable Foundation for making our rehabilitation equipment dreams come true through a grant of $4,850 to fund a set of parallel bars and an electric tilt table for our Rehabilitation suite. Our residents and therapists look forward to incorporating the new equipment into their individualized wellness plans.

Wear Orange Wednesdays! for March MS Awareness Month Did you know that March is multiple sclerosis (MS) awareness month? Nearly 90% of The Boston Home’s residents have MS. We will be wearing orange every Wednesday in March to advocate for research, care and resources for people with MS. Join us by wearing orange on Wednesdays! Workplace Education is Back on Track! Workplace Education has always been a priority at The Boston Home, with classes regularly offered in ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages), Computer Skills and HiSET (High School Equivalency Test) in partnership with Jewish Vocational Services (JVS). Last year, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic delayed some classes from completion. We are thrilled to report that classes have resumed and, thanks to a very generous donor, the staff participating in those classes have new laptops to help them complete their remote work! We could not be more proud of these staff members for their dedication to continuing education!

Welcome Emily Harris! Emily Harris has recently joined The Boston Home's Development office as Development & Administrative Coordinator. Emily is a recent graduate of Northeastern University where she majored in Communication Studies. Most recently, as the Open School Project Assistant at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, Emily supported an online educational community of more than 900,000 healthcare students, residents, faculty, and professionals, building skills in quality, safety, and leadership. Please join us in welcoming Emily. We are delighted to have her as part of The Boston Home community!
