News from The Boston Home

Coffee & News with John King,

CNN's Chief National Correspondent

Coffee & News is a popular way to start the day at The Boston Home, with residents gathering in Activities for a warm brew and good conversation about the events of the day. On Saturday, October 22nd, residents and staff enjoyed the incredible opportunity to talk news with CNN's John King, who grew up in Dorchester and joined us for Coffee & News while he was in town. With a conversation that ranged from the state of U.S. politics to the state of Boston sports, residents and staff were enthralled to hear insights and experiences from Mr. King's journalism career covering worldwide events. During the COVID-19 pandemic, John King shared publicly that he had been living with multiple sclerosis (MS) for more than a decade. King noted that his decision to share his diagnosis was motivated by the need to raise awareness that many people are immunocompromised and at high risk of COVID-19, even if they do not have visibly apparent symptoms or disabilities. We are grateful to Mr. King for visiting, and for his support of the MS community.

The Boston Home is Getting a Makeover!

Thanks to support from our Compassionate Care Capital Campaign and the Yawkey Foundation, much needed work has begun this week to update our facility with beautiful new flooring. Outdated wall coverings throughout the building have also been removed to be replaced with fresh new paint colors.

Here's a sneak preview of the tremendous transformation that is currently underway!
