Resident Window: A Trip to AMC Theater is Easy, Accessible & Fun
by Annie B.
On a chilly February afternoon, two Boston Home residents, Anne and Peter, went to the AMC movie theater in
Braintree. They booked transportation via The Ride. It was a quick 15 minute trip. On arrival, the driver helped them exit the van and opened the theater entrance. Once inside, staff assisted them to purchase tickets. Next, a stop at the concession stand to check out the large amount of food and drinks available. The theater itself was completely accessible. Anne and Pete remained in their wheelchairs and had an unobstructed view of the big screen. They were there to see “A Complete Unknown “, the Oscar nominated film about Bob Dylan's early years in the music business. Peter said he learned so much about Dylan's personal life. Anne commented on how wonderful it was to hear his music in surround sound. Both agreed that more residents should take advantage of the opportunity to see films on a big screen. At the conclusion of the movie, the residents were relieved to see their ride home arrived on time. It was a successful outing. They encourage others to watch for upcoming films of interest. Whether a cold winter day or a hot summer afternoon, a trip to the movie theater is a great local treat.

Run, Walk or Roll for Our Residents!
Join The Boston Home Team at
The McCourt Foundation Boston Waterfront 5K
Sunday, June 15, 2025 10 AM Race Start
Leader Bank Pavilion, 290 Northern Avenue, Boston
Did you know that fundraising events like The McCourt Foundation Boston Waterfront 5K, the Oldtime Baseball Game and Giving Tuesday raise much-needed funds to support life-enhancing programs at The Boston Home? Last year, these three events together raised over $150,000 to ensure that we can continue to offer watercolor classes, live musical performances, assistive technology, community outings and so much more. With state and federal funding cuts likely to impact long-term care budgets in the coming year, the generous support of our friends and families makes a critical difference in the lives of our residents and outpatients.
Please consider joining or supporting The Boston Home team at The McCourt Foundation Boston Waterfront 5K. You don't have to be a runner! Walkers and wheelchair users are welcome to join! Please use promo code “thebostonhome2025” to receive $5 off the current $40 cost of registration. All funds raised by The Boston Home team after registration costs go directly to The Boston Home.
For more information please contact Director of Philanthropy Ali Cahill at 617-326-4261 or acahill@thebostonhome.org.
