Castle in the Community!
The Castle team was proud to host another successful WriteBoston
Career Exploration Day for students from the Teens in Print
summer program. From networking with Castle mentors to drafting creative pitches and pitching our mock newsroom, the students gained hands-on experience and insight into public relations.
Tips of the Trade!
"Nurture your media relationships. Don't only reach out when you have something to pitch. Be a valuable resource and make it a two-way street."
"When you negotiate your hotel contract, make sure you understand the implications of your room block."
"Be sure to include links in every tweet. More than 92 percent of engagement on Twitter comes from link clicks."
"Always include a compelling call to action on all marketing materials."
"It's important for more than one person to have administrator rights to your organization's social media accounts. These same people should have the ability to access the accounts from a mobile device."
The PRGN blog included Philip's
guest post on tips for managing social media during a crisis.
It starts with being prepared -- developing and implementing a plan, guidelines and posting policies for internal and external interaction, as well as strategy for responding to posts, Tweets and shares.
It's Friday at 4 p.m. Do you know where your crisis is?
It's inevitable. It's Friday. Late afternoon. The call (to the crisis communications
counsel, attorney and/or risk management firm) comes. "Hi, we're dealing with a situation here. I'm not sure if it's really a crisis, we're reaching out to touch base, just in case."
Nine times out of ten, it is, indeed, a crisis.
We are available to our clients when they need us, regardless of the time or day. We appreciate the opportunity to work with them, even when it's around the clock. But Friday afternoon is not a good time to finally take stock of a breaking issue. It has nothing to do with the damper it might cause on our weekends, and everything to do with how the timing affects communications, resolution and so much more.

Deloitte Partner Susan Esper appeared on Bloomberg Baystate Business Radio to share how the firm addresses gender disparity on corporate boards through Deloitte's New England Board Ready Women program, an initiative that she co-leads. New England retail leader Kate Ferrara sat down with WBZ NewsRadio to share insights from Deloitte's annual back-to-school survey.
Savage, Turner, Durham, Pinckney & Savage attorney Zachary R. Sprouse secured a $4,250,00 million verdict in a jury trial for a client who was catastrophically injured by a falling tree limb. The verdict is the largest known award in the history of McIntosh County (Georgia); it is also one of the top verdicts for a case of this kind in Georgia in 2019.
