WordPlay Gala Celebrates Jeanne Gang-Designed Writers' Theatre
On April 18, more than 400 guests at the Writers' Theatre WordPlay gala proclaimed their support for the new theatre center, designed by Jeanne Gang (2006), President and Principal of Studio Gang Architects.
The annual event raised more than $700,000 for Writers' Theatre productions and educational programs.

is getting harder to come by according to an analysis of PitchBook data by Maura.
In 2013, 44 percent of startups in the Midwest and Great Lakes region, which includes Chicago, had not received their second rounds of funding within two years after initial venture-capital raises.
"Getting $1 million or more was really, really difficult...By the time you're talking about a Series B, the company has been seriously de-risked," said

Rush University Medical Center Receives Grant for Wounded Warrior Project
Rush University Medical Center's (

, SVP & General Counsel (2012)) veterans program was featured in a
Crain's
article this week, as the program is set to receive $15 million from the Wounded Warrior Project, securing a spot as the Midwest's only hospital to receive such a grant.
The grant is part of a $100 million commitment the Jacksonville, Florida - based Wounded Warrior Project launched to create a national medical care network connecting wounded veterans and their families. Rush's Road Home Program will receive the money through a three-year grant. The Wounded Warrior Project also has promised to make $2 contributions for every dollar Rush secures for its veterans program up to $2.5 million a year raised by the hospital.
Rush plans to use the grant money to expand the Road Home Program's center and develop an outpatient evaluation and treatment program.

Theresa E. Mintle Addresses CHRO Leadership Summit
In keynote remarks to the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce Leadership Summit, Chicagoland Chamber President and CEO
Theresa E. Mintle (2015) discussed how the Chamber's recent surveys of the region's small business and mid-market communities support evidence of the growing talent gap and skills shortage facing many companies today. She also expanded on what the Chamber is doing to address these issues, including programs in workforce development, STEM internships, talent development and retention, and diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
"We have a lot of work ahead of us, and addressing these issues is going to entail a great deal of innovation and collaboration," said Mintle. "Employers must become intentional about creating meaningful career pathways to train and engage and retain a younger workforce, for whom traditional values and beliefs don't always apply. Work-based learning opportunities must be created and in a scalable fashion that incorporates small and mid-size businesses."
