November 2016 (2)

Our Mission:
Supporting lifelong faith formation in the home and congregation.

From the President's Desk

As we reflect on the many blessings we have been given during this month of November, I give thanks for the willingness and commitment I have seen from the members of the CENetwork Board. We had our annual face-to-face meeting at The Lutheran Center in Chicago earlier this month and the energy and enthusiasm to grow this organization through continually seeking to partner and connect with others was evident. During our time together, we devoted much time to envisioning ways to generate resourceful conversations in our Facebook Group.

Another highlight was our time spent with the Rev. Brenda Smith who facilitated talk about the Book of Faith and helped us dream about working with others to bring this valuable ministry to the forefront. One outcome of our discussions was to connect more intentionally with the ELCA Resource Centers.

As I look towards the end of the year and the end of my four-year term as President, I get very excited about meeting new board members and witnessing where God is calling us over the next few years.

Many thanks for your support,

Debbie Streicher
President of the CENetwork

Eternity Today, Vol. 1: On the Liturgical Year: On God and Time, Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Candlemas
.
Eternity Today, Volume 1 covers Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Candlemas, and Ordinary Time. It is meant for anyone who wishes to observe the liturgical year with intelligent devotion. Throughout, the author aims to recover the theology and spirituality of the Christian year. As an aid to reflection, he incorporates numerous selections of contemporary poetry, thereby demonstrating how secular poets can often hit upon a point that finds its echo in Christian life and ritual.

Gracious Father,

In this Advent of expectation,
draw us together in unity,
that our praise and worship
might echo in tour church walls
and also through our lives.
In this Advent of expectation
draw us together in mission,
that the hope within
might be the melody of our lives.
In this Advent of expectation
draw us together in service,
that the path we follow
might lead us from a stable
to a glimpse of eternity.
