Happy Halloween!!

Welcome to The Cirrostratus Group October newsletter.

Happy Halloween!! I have some suggestions for how to help your Trick or Treaters have a "cloudy" Halloween.

In this month's newsletter I've highlighted several recent earnings reports from Cloud providers and the new private SaaS company survey results are available. As always there are a lot of excellent comparative metrics and information in the survey results.

I'm always interested in hearing about your plans for developing and offering cloud applications.

It doesn't look like you can get the candy at your local candy store since it seems to only be available from Alibaba. You may need to share with your friends unless you have a lot of Trick or Treaters since the minimum order size of the candy is 2 tons!

Recent Cloud Provider Earnings Results

Several large and influential Cloud providers recently published their quarterly earnings. In most cases the results were significant indicating the substantial growth in the market. IBM and SAP's earnings weren't quite as impressive but they both show substantial progress with their cloud businesses.
  • Amazon - Annual AWS growth of 42%
  • Microsoft - Annual Azure revenue growth of 92%
  • Google/Alphabet - Annual revenue growth of 24%
  • IBM - Annual cloud revenue growth of 25%
  • SAP - Annual cloud revenue growth of 22%

2017 Private SaaS Company Survey
David Skok has has published a recent blog giving his analysis on the recent Survey of Private SaaS companies. This is part 1 and I'll highlight part 2 when it is available. This is one of the best surveys on metrics of how SaaS companies operate including growth rates, go to market trends and cost structure. Reviewing this survey is a great way to understand possible areas to improve your SaaS business.

You can get a copy of the complete survey results from KBCM. This survey was the Pacific Crest survey from previous years but Pacific Crest Securities was purchased by Keybanc Capital Markets and KBCM has continued the survey.
