One team. One community.
A whole lot of support.
As the school year comes to a close and summer is officially underway, we here at the Community Counseling Center would like to reflect on the work we've done in support of our community and its collective health and well-being.
Through innovative and impactful programming offered both onsite here at The Center and within our schools, LMCCC engages and supports over 1500 students and 400+ families every year.
Some 2024-25 highlights:
- We started off the year partnering with the elementary PTAs and PT Council to bring the Taming Tech Together series to district families. This two-part program helped our families navigate parenting in the digital age and develop their own safe-tech blueprint.
- Our Parent Center programming reached more parents in our community than ever this year. We held six fully-subscribed sections of our 8-week Parent Circle (including one in Spanish) addressed elementary and middle school parents on a variety of topics throughout the school year, and introduced The Power of the Parent - an orientation to counseling for every parent with children being seen at LMCCC. Our staff has also created a brand new 6-week parenting curriculum (Parent Circle 2.0) focused on behavior change that will debut this coming fall.
- As usual, we were very active in our schools. With the 5th Grade Mindfulness Program, 7th Grade Life Skills Program, and 10th Grade Students Supporting Students Curriculums, and a new High School Connections support group, LMCCC supported the development of important skills in our students as they navigate the social and emotional demands of being a kid in today's world! We also conducted DBT Skills Workshops for aides at all four elementary schools as well as at MHS, in support of their work with students in classrooms.

We're also very proud of the many offerings via La Casa, our program dedicated to supporting the Spanish-speaking members of our community. In addition to the expansion of parallel programs offered by the Center in Spanish, we are in the process of launching a YouTube channel!
-
LM Connects, our alliance of community partners, completed its student drug/alcohol use survey of 8th, 10th, and 12th graders. In collaboration with the district, results of the surveys will be presented and discussed at an assembly this coming fall.

Through a generous grant awarded by the Junior League of Westchester on the Sound, LMCCC is pleased to announce the establishment of the LMCCC Fellowship Program. The fellowship program will enable us to offer 1-2 students per year a one-year post-graduate training position here at The Center. By adding a fellowship year to an already successful internship training program, we will increase capacity at LMCCC and deepen our commitment to training the next generation of clinicians. Congratulations to our current interns, Caroline Leonard and Elisabeth Wolfe, who will stay on at the Center as our first LMCCC Fellows.
This is just a small overview - I invite you to visit our website for a more comprehensive look at the many programs and events LMCCC has provided throughout the year.
Wishing our community a very happy and safe summer. Stay tuned for more wonderful programming from LMCCC - remember we're here to offer help and hope.
Our door is always open.
Warmly,
