St. John's, Montgomery,

Painting Restoration Project Completed

After an 8-month absence, two large 170-year-old Rubens copies were returned to and re-installed in St. John's Episcopal Church. These are copies of paintings by the famous Flemish master, Peter Paul Rubens. The source of these copies was a Montgomery resident who was the ambassador to Belgium in the mid-1850's. His great-great granddaughter is a St. John's parishioner. Pictures of the restoration project and the history of these paintings are in the St. John's display cases. All are welcome to come visit the paintings, view the historical display, and, most importantly, rest and pray at St, John's. (Pictured: * (L-R) William Haynes (St. John's Sr. Warden), Seibels Marshall (Great-Great Granddaughter of the original patron) and Rev.Dr. Duncan Johnston (St. John's Rector)
