When I can look for the image of God in someone,

I will always bring more grace to the encounter.

There's a wonderful little video that I came across a few years ago. It begins with a businessman going about his usual day. Things don’t start out well and get worse. He starts to pull out of the driveway, and almost runs over a child on a bike. He gets to his favorite coffee outlet, but a woman steals his parking place. The man in front of him in line places an order for his entire office building. When he finally gets to the counter, he's told that it will be a few minutes because they have to brew a fresh batch.

Regular services will be at 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. A special liturgy for healing and remembrance will be held at 10:15 a.m. in the St. John's labyrinth garden, where hundreds of ceramic poppies from The Alabama Poppy Project will be installed. Screening of The Philadelphia 11

December 11, noon and 6:00pm

The Church of the Nativity, Huntsville will be hosting a screening of the movie The Philadelphia 11. This is a documentary about the history of the ordination of women in the Episcopal Church. In an act of civil disobedience, a group of women and their supporters organize their ordination to become Episcopal priests in 1974. The Church of the Advocate in Philadelphia welcomes them, but change is no small task. The women are harassed, some lose friends, and others are banned from stepping on church property. In this feature-length documentary film, we meet the women who succeed in building a movement that transforms an age-old institution, and challenges the very essence of patriarchy within Christendom. December 11 at noon and 6. Please feel free to bring your lunch or dinner and enjoy the fellowship. Questions? Please contact Mother Rosie.

Annual Fall Bazaar – November 11

St. James Episcopal Church will host its annual bazaar from 9 a.m. to noon. The bazaar will feature a variety of homemade goodies including cakes, casseroles, soups, and other kitchen creations; crafts; and pottery. St. James parishioners work year-round to create the treasures available at the Bazaar. All proceeds benefit local community outreach programs.
