Listen in as Bishop Prior talks to Nathaniel Vincent Stokes, who was born in Brooklyn, New York. At the age of three, he started drumming on pots and pans in his parents’ home and by seven he was playing regularly at Beulah Church of the Nazarene in Brooklyn, New York (where his late grandfather, Rev. Stanley Moore, was the Senior Pastor).

Part II in our "Deep Roots, New Growth" series
Raising and empowering leaders
Deep roots: For over 190 years, the Diocese of Alabama has nurtured and empowered lay and ordained leaders who have pastored our parishes with grace and faithfulness. This legacy of deep roots gives us the strong foundation on which we now stand. However, we are not immune to the changes in The Episcopal Church that are leading to a shortage of qualified ordained and lay worship leaders. We need an infusion of new life.

The Church of the Epiphany in Leeds is in need of new pews to replace the hand-me-downs they were given several years ago. They would be happy to take hand-me-downs again if another church is upgrading, and would love to pass along any of theirs that are suitable for use by a church that might need them. Please contact Lynn Reeves to discuss.

What has Christianity got to do with a teenagers world today? How can the church speak to today's youth?
Happening is a personal encounter with the living Christ as expressed in the traditions of the Episcopal Church. Hopefully, those who attend a Happening will join those who have gone before them in their desire to serve the Church, to continue in their commitment to Christ and to look for further opportunities to share with others what they have lived and learned.
