LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT |
As new Chamber President I am excited to work for you and put into action some of my priorities for the upcoming year. Our strongest asset for the Chamber is you our membership partners. It is my goal to have more interaction and more engagement with you all. With that in mind I have given the directive to our Board of Directors to make more personal contacts with you all and to create more connectivity for better inclusiveness.
The Chamber wants to see more of you and have you become stronger Partners. We want to encourage you to come to our general membership meetings and events. Our membership committee supports the rotation of morning and evening membership meetings so that we can better accommodate you. The results of this newer policy have been successful and the chamber has gotten to know more of you, thank you!
We continue to evaluate the benefits we can offer our partners and to this effort we have established for our retail partners two shopping crawls throughout the year. In addition we have expanded and improve some of signature events, providing more opportunities for our membership.
I look forward in meeting you all and thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving you all!
Best regards,
Jim Karras

Taking on her position is our very own Maryanne Douglas who has been involved with the Chamber for many years. The transition should be a smooth one.

This had to be the hottest day so far for the 2017 year!! Over 80 degrees and the crowds were HUGE! Our Easter Bunny was really working it with 3000 eggs 'distributed' throughout the harbor front park and over 250 pieces of individual chocolate candy given out to every child that took a photo with EB
Thanks to the Greater Port Jefferson Northern Brookhaven Arts Council who loaned the Chamber their PA systems as well as stanches to create an aisle for the children to see visit with E.B.
Chamber volunteers did a great job with crowd control and assisting the bunnies with the candy. A special thanks to our 2 junior volunteers Jasmine and Monica who carried our banner and really helped handing out the candy to the children!

8th ANNUAL HEALTH & WELLNESS FEST
|
|
This year marked the second year for the re-inventing of our Health & Wellness event, naming it a Fest rather than expo! By far this had to be the largest attendance ever with over 400 visitors, not including over 80 vendors and their support staff! St. Charles Hospital again sponsored a food court that featured free healthy meals to all the attendees, including overnight oatmeal, strawberry bar, smoothies, lentil soup, cauliflower pizza with toppings and fresh veggies with dip and hummus.
New exhibitors and initiatives included service animals: certified therapy miniature donkeys, dogs and a demonstration area.
The Royal Education Foundation was again our partner in sponsoring their 2k fun run which brought in runners and their families.
Special thanks to our 3 major hospitals for their steadfast commitment and sponsorship, St. Charles, Mather, and Stony Brook Medicine. In addition the custodial help and the Port Jefferson School district could not have been more helpful and supportive as our partner.
