LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT |
Our Chamber's activities this spring have been a huge success. Our first ever
"Breakfast Crawl" done in conjunction with the Pro-Port Restaurant Association
attracted over 300. We have groups of people "crawling" to our village
restaurants for a taste of their breakfast offerings. Look for more activities
from the Chamber and the Pro Port Group in the future.
The annual Easter Parade which was covered on News 12 attracted hundreds
of children and parents racing after the eggs. A good time was had by all.
Our 9th Annual Health and Wellness Fest held at Port Jeff High School was also the
best attended of all the Fests to date with over 500 people. Many new sponsors
have joined us in taking part in this important community event.
Being the Chambers president I am very gratified by the results that we have
all worked so hard for. New members flock to us every month, we have good
attendance and enthusiasm at our monthly meetings. Well run and dynamic
events! With our members support we will keep it going!

Things happening in our Business Community!
Graceful Rose will have new tenants, a high end Italian Restaurant, privately owned named 'Due Baci' or in English, 'Two Kisses', they plan on opening in July.
Toast has reopened with their brand new renovations! Congratulations, looks great!
New bread bakery plans are STILL moving forward for E. Main Street.
Welcome new retailer 'Birch and Main' 230 E. Main Street. A lifestyle boutique that has offers collections of handcrafted soy candles and body products. Also includes home décor, kitchenware, barware and food provisions. Stop in and welcome Michael to our community!
Chamber is preparing to renovate and redesign their back stairs with the help of PJ Village, thankyou!
Change is parking fees. Starting Memorial Day and running through Labor Day metered parking fees in PJ municipal parking lots, ONLY on the weekends will be increased by .50 to help discourage employees taking 'premium' parking spots. These changes were recommended and supported by the PJ Parking Committee.
Fire at Starbucks, minor damage reopened the same day!
Summer hours: Open M-F 10-5 and on the weekend 10-4pm.

So this year we had a very cool day on Easter Sunday, but this did not seem to disrupt the crowds who attended this very popular event. The sun was out and they came! A huge participation of multi-cultural families attending, crowd estimate is 500. EB and helpers gave out chocolate to over 250 children and did not leave until every child was received and welcomed.
Children and parents cued up to have photo opps with EB as the line stretch from the front doors of the PJ Village Center down to the children's playground park!
Chamber volunteers included member partners from HSBC-Claudia and Sophia, Joy Pipe of East End Shirt Co. and her family, Kathy O'Sullivan and PJ Chamber President Jim Karras. All did a great job with crowd control and assisting EB. A special thanks to junior volunteers, Natalie & Taylor Kalman who helped carry the Easter banner in the parade.

9TH ANNUAL HEALTH & WELLNESS FEST
|
|
Huge crowds and busier than ever with 85 tables that included 17 NEW vendors. This year brought new sponsors which increased sponsorship revenue by 67%!! Every year the Chamber brings in new elements to keep this event fresh. Attendees participated in Tai Chi, Pilates, and art therapy. The St. Charles Hospital food court again was very popular featuring free healthy meals to all the attendees.
The Royal Education Foundation had runners/walkers who joined in with their 2k fun run and thisyear Christian Neubert a Port Jefferson Schools music teacher, volunteer fireman and Port Jefferson Library Trustee was honored with the Power of One Award for his significant positive impact on the village and school community.
Special thanks to our 3 major hospitals for their steadfast commitment and sponsorship, St. Charles, Mather, and Stony Brook Medicine. We also welcomed our new platinum sponsor NY Cancer & Blood Specialists whose sponsorship money added to the success of the H&W. Port Jefferson School District custodial help could not have been more cooperative. Our committee was also assisted by our Chamber partner Servpro and their staff with the setting up and breaking down of the event, their help was very much appreciated.
