| LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT |
Hello Chamber Partners,
Summer seems in the distant past, with so many things that our Chamber rolls right into when there begins to be a chill in the air. Recapping from the summer:
- The Chamber participated in the Village's 2nd Annual Heritage Weekend. Hosting a vintage baseball team the Eckford of Brooklyn BBC, who competed with our very own Port Jeff Reds! Free Italian ices were given out to all, thank you Roger at PJ Frigate!
- In August we had our second New Member Wine & Cheese Soirée held in our quaint chamber office great opportunity for networking in a casual and relaxed atmosphere.
- In August our Chamber with the Patchouge Chamber combined efforts to host for the first time a joint networking event. The event was held in Patchogue at 'Meetballs'. Great attendance with lots of fun including a historic trivia game, with questions about both villages. Next time PJ will host!
This led the way for our 3rd annual Dragon Boat Race Festival. This year 31 teams competing on a gorgeous late summer day! Rounding off the calendar was our 9th annual 'The Taste @ Port Jefferson' in October with 28 purveyors and our NEW VIP area.
The Fall starts the active holiday season with the Chamber participating in: 'Paint Port Pink Campaign' supporting our chamber partner Mather Hospital, PJ Villages Harvest Festival, with our scarecrow walk, Santa Parade, Santa's Workshop, sponsoring a tree at the Festival of Trees in the PJ Village Center, the 21st Charles Dickens Festival and repeating our NEW shopping initiative for our retail partners, 'Port Jeff on Sale' December 10th!
The Chamber continues to support our membership and business community with upgrades at the chamber office to include a new computer and software, new electrical work, and keeping the grounds neat and trim.

Grand opening for 'The Hills of Port Jefferson' in upper Port-38 luxury apartments were all quickly leased with another 38 on the way. Tony Gitto and family hosted an open house attended by VIP's and guests to tour this new facility. Their project was recognized by Vision Long Island as 'smart growth' development, congratulations.

- Business may not be larger than 50 employees.
- Business must be a member of the Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce.
- The business must be in good standing with their membership.
- Business must have been in business for one year.
- Only the business owner(s) or main principles of the business may submit an application for the award. Please submit good contact information.
- Proof of ownership must be presented with the application.
- Your 'request letter' IS YOUR FORMAL SUBMISSION, THERE IS NO FORMAL APPLICATION TO BE FILLED OUT.
- Selection of the award will be based on how the money will be spent to improve the business and cannot be used for operational expenses. Examples could be: Updating and purchasing equipment, capital improvements, professional services, consulting evaluations, business plans, marketing strategies, promotional advertising, signs, energy efficient improvements-lighting, insulation etc.
- Your 'request letter' IS YOUR FORMAL SUBMISSION, THERE IS NO FORMAL APPLICATION TO BE FILLED OUT.
- Non-profits are ineligible, ONLY Small Businesses
*Proof of expenditure must be presented 6 months after the award, unless other pre-approved arrangements have been made.
**Current Port Jefferson Chamber Board Members are INELIGIBLE to apply.

DRAGON BOAT RACE

Dragons Now Sleeping, but what FUN they had!
Another gorgeous day, bright and warm with 31 teams racing in the harbor! This annual event once again thrilled residents and visitors.
This year the park layout was different with the showmobile on the east end which lent for better crowd control and provided more of an open space for the Asian themed entertainment. The FDNY Phoenix Society were the grand champions this year, coming in with the final racing time of 1:17.78 minutes! Congratulations to ALL the teams and many thanks to our sponsors and committee that made this event an extraordinary day!
