| LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT |
The lazy days of summer are here! Our summer calendar reflects concert, movie, and children's shows for our community at large. In addition the Chamber is sponsoring a new networking event August 11th with our sister Chamber the Greater Patchogue at one of their quality restaurants, 'Meetballs' from 6-8:00 pm. July brought us our second annual, The Gardens & Landscapes of Port Jefferson which presented 8 private gardens in the Village of Port Jefferson.
In August the Village will also celebrate the second Heritage Weekend with the theme of recreation. This year the Chamber has taken on a more active role with this important event. We will be sponsoring a vintage baseball game on Saturday the 21st from noon to 3:30 pm at Caroline Field. Teams will be mixed with both 'professional' players and Village residents, playing by 1866 rules and all sporting old-fashion baseball uniforms! In addition there will
a one-hour presentation on 19th Century Base Ball and its history.
On August 18th all new Chamber Partners are invited to a wine & cheese get together at the Chamber office from 5:30-7:30. Come by and meet and greet your chamber staff and enjoy some hospitality with new members!
So our summer is busy with festive events and networking opportunities! Enjoy the weather and activities that make our community so very special!

Another new restaurant in our Village-Welcome 'Crazy Fish Bar & Gill' located where La Parrilla was at 9 Trader's Cove. Stop by and meet the owner Stacy Gertz who has put a new spin on popular classic fish entrees.
We hope our iconic neighborhood pub and eatery Billie's 1890 Saloon will open as soon as they can as they recover from a fire that has now disabled the business and building. Wishing them a quick restoration and look forward to having their doors open soon!
So have you seen all these groups of young people walking around Port with their heads down following their smart phones...? Yes, it is the finding of 'Pokémon Go' craze that has become an addiction to many. PLEASE assist these poor souls and remind them to LIFT up their heads, before they kill themselves!! Thank you, GPJCC!

This spring was as usual very busy for our Chamber. We participated in the Boater's Maritime Festival with our energetic clam eating contest! Thank you to PJ Lobster House and LI Pour Bar & Grill for their donations and help!
That event rolled right into our Green Fest. Great weather and new this year was Nature Nick with his animal menagerie. Fun for ALL ages and with the backdrop of local musician
Steven Archdeacon playing his guitar!
The Fourth of July Parade was again a winner. The Chamber hired 'Wholly Brass Band' again, with 9 musicians playing patriotic and jazz favorites. Our red convertibles were very showy and thank you to those Chamber Partners who participated in our marching unit!!
Finally this July we sponsored our 2nd annual Gardens & Landscapes of Port Jefferson tour. 8 beautiful gardens were showcased throughout the Village. Our partners were the Suwasset Garden Club, Night Herons, and the Times Beacon Record News Media. Special thanks to Chamber Partners who donated services and products, Starbucks, A-Cake-In-Time and Port Jefferson Music Academy.
