With funding from the AARP Community Challenge Grant, the
Heart of New Ulm Downtown Action Team
recently worked with the Brown County Historical Society to create and install a series of historical plaques on downtown benches that feature New Ulm’s history. Each intersection has a specific theme and tells some of the history through text and photos.

The team has also worked with the city to install new parking lot signs that will make it easier for residents and visitors to find parking. It's all part of the action team's work to revitalize the downtown New Ulm area and enhance shoppers’ and customers’ experiences by increasing seating and green space, enhancing the area’s aesthetic appeal and improving pedestrian and bicycle safety. The team works in partnership with the Minnesota Main Street Program, which is sponsored by the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce.
